DO IT YOURSELF Quantum Mechanics OBSERVING ... ORV'S "Bits & Pieces" Quantum Mechanics Many people find Quantum indeterminacy very difficult to accept. Shroedinger's Cat was a way of pointing out the absurdity of indeterminacy. Even though it works, indeterminacy theory still is so non-intuitive that it does seem almost comical. Dear Cecil: Cecil, you're my final hope, of finding out the true Straight Dope For I have been reading of Schroedinger's cat, but none of my cats are at all like that. This unusual animal (so it is said), is simultaneously live and dead! What I don't understand is just why he Can't be, one or other unquestionably. My future now hangs in between eigenstates. In one I'm enlightened, in the other I ain't. If you understand Cecil then show me the way, and rescue my psyche from quantum decay. But if this queer thing has perplexed even you, then I will and won't see you in Schroedinger's zoo. Randy F., Chicago

http://inannareturns.com/articles/schrodinger.htm
Quantum Physics, Vedic Thought, and Schrodinger’s Wave Equation The Austrian physicist Erwin Schrodinger - of Schrodinger’s Cat fame - ‘devised the wave equation every quantum system must obey’ and represented ‘quantum stuff as a waveform’ [N. Herbert]. Profoundly influenced by Vedic thought, Schrodinger kept copies of the Sanskrit texts by his bed - the Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads. Would modern science have ever embraced quantum physics without Schrodinger’s understanding of Vedic thought? Subhash Kak, both a scientist and an Indologist, has written a most interesting article on Schrodinger’s involvement in Vedanta suggesting how modern thought has been influenced by Vedic traditions. Professor Kak tells us that: …before he [ Schrodinger] created quantum mechanics he expressed his intention to give form to central ideas of Vedanta, which, therefore, has had a role in the birth of quantum mechanics.  In 1925, before his revolutionary theory was complete, Erwin Schrodinger wrote: “This life of yours, which you are living, is not merely a piece of this entire existence, but in a certain sense the ‘whole’; only this whole is not so constituted that it can be surveyed in one single glance. “This, as we know, is what the Brahmins express in that sacred, mystic formula which is yet really so simple and so clear:

A Physicist
Explores the
Multiverse
Quantum Computers Predict Parallel Worlds by Susan Barber How can we be Immortal in a world that is ''running down.'' If Ascension is real, where do we go when we do that? If ESP is real and, as parapsychologists have proved, moves instantaneously, how is this possible? Where is thought going in order to be transferred ''outside of time''? And how is ''creation'' possible? What is a miracle? Historically, science has refused even to examine these questions. But the time must come when quantum physicists will no longer be able to avoid trying to answer them. And if David Deutsch's theories take hold, that time may not be far away. Parallel worlds? Science fiction, or fact? To understand the quantum-physical problem that Deutsch's Multiverse solves, let's take a look at the paradox of Shroedinger's cat: and alive? ''Schroedinger's cat'' describes a hypothetical experiment outlined by Erwin Schroedinger in 1983: A cat is placed in a steel box along with a bit of radioactive substance so small that the probability of one atom's decaying within one hour is 50 percent. Then the box is closed.

THE MEANING OF "LIFE"
Steven M. Potter
March 11, 1986 (Written for Prof. Stanley Miller's Biochemical Evolution course) Amongst the carbon compounds there is an abundance of evidence to prove the existence of internal tendencies or molecular properties which may and do lead to the evolution of more and more complex chemical compounds. And it is such synthetic processes, occurring amongst the molecules of colloidal and allied substances, which seem so often to engender or give 'origin' to a kind of matter possessing that subtle combination of properties to which we are accustomed to apply the epithet "living". H. C. Bastian in The Beginnings of Life, 1872 ( The word "life" has probably been around ever since mankind began using language. It is a word of fundamental importance to all of us, and seldom do we make it through an entire day without putting it to use. We do so, however, with only a sketchy and subjective idea of what life actually means. This is because until recently, within the last century or so, it has been easy for people to distinguish between what they call living and what they call non-living. There has been no need to define life precisely; its meaning is intuitively understood. The scientific revolution has brought complications into this matter: certain fields of science are concerned with systems which would be called living by some and non-living by others. For example, advances in medicine have brought about the discovery of microscopic "infectious agents" such as viruses and plasmids. Are these alive? Many scientists are presently searching for extra-terrestrial life. How will they know when they have found it, if life is not clearly defined? The recent advances in computer science portend that computers may eventually rival humans in their mental capacities. Can we ever call such man-made devices living?

71. Il Mondo E Il Costrutto Delle Nostre Sensazioni. Erwin Schroedinger.
spazio-tempo è solo la nostra rappresentazione. erwin Schrödinger
http://www.segnalidivita.com/gemmedisaggezza/gemme_di_saggezza_084.htm
Il mondo è il costrutto delle nostre sensazioni, percezioni, memorie. Conviene guardarlo come esistente in modo proprio e oggettivo.

Abstract
This system, the RHS, is not identical with consciousness. Only under certain conditions does some area of the brain create subjective consciousness, which may be one of the products of the RHS. Subjective consciousness is probably based on simple particle communication, their .proto-consciousness., but is much more complex, due to the neuronal analysis of sensory input and other cognitive functions of the CNS.
Introduction
There are several definitions of consciousness, which usually depend on the philosophical views of their authors. Let us use a simple definition of consciousness, as found on the Internet (http://www.selfknowledge.com/19677 .htm): .The state of being conscious; knowledge of one.s own existence, sensations, mental operations, acts, etc. .Consciousness is thus, on the one hand, the recognition of the mind or .ego. of its acts and affections; - in other words, the self-affirmation that certain modifications are mine..

Erwin Schroedinger (1887-1961) was an Austrian physicist and Nobel laureate (1933), who formulated the theory of wave mechanics. He was born in Vienna, where he also studied physics. He did his research and taught in Zurich, Berlin, Oxford, Dublin, and Vienna. This is one of the most influential scientific books of the twentieth century. In trying to understand life, it inspired the development of molecular biology and motivated scientists to discover the structure of the DNA. Consolidating ideas from biology, chemistry and physics, it was innovative in that it looked at key biological questions from the perspective of physics. This book also includes his essay on Mind and Matter, in which he examines the role of consciousness in the evolution of life and the role of the development of the human mind for moral questions. His Autobiographical Sketches provide a fascinating background to his scientific investigations.

SCHROEDINGER'S CAT IN AN ATOMIC CAGE
They say, "You can't have your cake and eat it, too."
They say, "You can't be in two places at one time."
"They" may be wrong, however, since scientists at the Commerce Department's National Institute of Standards and Technology have just disproved the latter by preparing a beryllium atom that is simultaneously located in two widely separated places. At the NIST laboratories in Boulder, Colo., Christopher Monroe, Dawn Meekhof, Brian King and David Wineland isolated a single beryllium ion (an atom with one of its two outer electrons stripped away) in an electromagnetic trap and cooled it nearly to absolute zero with precisely tuned laser beams. This confined it to a tiny region of space less than a millionth of a centimeter across, where it rested almost without motion. The ion's single remaining outer electron can be in two internal quantum states: "up" and "down." These states correspond to different orientations of the spin of the electron. The laws of quantum mechanics also allow the electron to be placed in a "superposition" of the two states, in which the two states both exist and are, in a sense, sort of stacked upon one another. Until the particle is disturbed by an outside agent, there is an equal probability that it is in either state, and thus it is considered to be in both states.
