Thank tourism for making possible an incredible variety of calypso records from the islands. For an island of limited resources, one way to economize was to feature several artists on one label; calypso compilations, or various-artists collections, abound. More often than not, these are the sole releases of the particular recordings. In other cases the collections bring together unforgettable but otherwise lost material. One type is the classic, ancient calypso which may exist only rare 78s. Another is the stuff of recent years, the past "road march" and "calypso tent winners" which may have been recreated in the studio. Buying: Calypso compilations are as sure a thing as any; almost all collections offer unique, worthwhile material if not the very best calypso on record. The Monogram family of labels, including the reissue version (Request/Sounds of the Caribbean) leads the pack.

MUNICIPAL BUILDINGS OF YORK
Prisons and Courts of Justice
The prisons in York are the Castle, the New Gaol, the new House of Correction, and St. Peter's prison. The Castle (Note: The city arms were formerly argent, with only a cross gules. The live Lions were afterwards added by William the Conqueror, in honour of the five brave magistrates, Clifford, Houngate, Talbot, Lascelles, and Errington, who so valiantly defended the city against his arms, in 1070, until obliged to surrender through famine.) The Castle, with its appendages, occupies about four acres of ground; the walls are 1100 yards round, and within the walls, in front of the Castle, is an area, called the Castle yard, of the size of about an acre, in which the county meetings for the election of knights of the shire, and other public business are held. County Gaol (Note: This is considered a situation of great trust and responsibility, and the Governor has a salary of £700 a year, besides the prison fees, which amount to a considerable sum annually.) The New Gaol The Gaol for the imprisonment and correction of "lessor criminals," was formerly a part of St. Anthony's hall, on Peaseholme green; but in the year 1814, a structure was completed on Toft-green, under the direction of Mr. Peter Atkinson, architect, and city steward, which may rank amongst the best constructed prisons in the kingdom. The expense attendant upon the erection of this prison, like that for the building of the city gaol, was defrayed by a joint assessment on the City and on the Ainsty, for the use of both of which it is intended, the former contributing three-fifths and the latter two-fifths. The governor is Mr. John King; the Rev. Wm. Flower, sen. is the Chaplain. and performs service once every alternate Sunday, and reads prayers every Tuesday evening. This establishment, which admits of the classification of prisoners, may serve as a model to those who may be engaged in the erection or management of prisons.

W's "Uncle Bucky" (Secret Society Pal of John Negroponte and Porter Goss) Makes a Killing off Iraq War
Violet Jones Cursory research into George W's "Uncle Bucky,"(said, in the article below, to have made hundreds of thousands off the Iraq war) has revealed that "He also has holdings in "...Lord Abbett & Co., with about 8 million shares of Halliburton . Lord Abbett's trustees, who manage billions controlled by this investment firm, include Bush uncle William H. T. Bush. Lord Abbett is also one of Halliburton's top ten mutual fund holders (another 4.7 million shares)." (hierarchypedia.com) Beyond that, we have uncovered William H.T. "Bucky" Bush's secret society connections to CIA-Director Porter Goss and Intelligence Czar John Negroponte, as revealed in the photo above taken from the 1960 Yale Banner yearbook. The secret society of which all three of these men are members is called "the Fence Club," also known as Psi Upsilon. According to the Psi Upsilon website: The Hon. William Taylor, Theta '38, in The History of the Psi Upsilon Fraternity , describes the founding of Psi Upsilon in these words:

Excerpt
Representations of the foreign inevitably reveal as much about the historical circumstances of those doing the observing as about those being observed. The debates over trade issues and human rights that have largely shaped Western perceptions of China over the past decade, for example, have foregrounded a series of distinctive tropes with a consistency suggestive of a well-worn cultural habit. China's economic miracle, we are given to understand, is predicated upon an increasingly free circulation of goods and capital entailed by the reversal of long-standing policies of state interference in the marketplace. The unremitting suppression of political dissent in the wake of the Tiananmen Square massacre, meanwhile, offends democratic sensibilities as a systematic obstruction of the free flow of ideas posited by the liberal ideal.

Kingston, Ga. The congregation was on its feet singing the old Gospel favorite "I Saw The Light" when Rev. Carl Porter put aside his Bible and reached behind the pulpit for the wooden snake box. The 56-year-old Georgia preacher slipped his weathered hands inside and, moments later, lifted a 4-foot (1.3 metre) timber rattlesnake into the light. Stroking his deadly cargo, Porter began to hop and strut across the altar. "Save me, Jesus," shouted a worshiper, his face streaked with tears. Several others, sensing the presence of the Holy Spirit, uttered strings of indecipherable sounds, a practice known as speaking in tongues. Porter, too, was shouting praises and singing, even as the rattler slithered in between his hands, darting its head back and forth in menacing fashion. Several minutes passed before another worshiper stepped forward to receive the snake. Returning to the pulpit, the preacher wiped his forehead with a handkerchief and grabbed a mason jar full of strychnine-laced water. He swallowed a mouthful of the clear liquid and smiled. "I felt the Spirit move on me," Porter explained hours later as he stood in an empty pew in the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Kingston, Ga., one of about 40 churches in the southeastern United States that actively practice snake handling.

he mob had been divided from its first assemblage into four divisions; the London, the Westminster, the Southwark, and the Scotch. Each of these divisions being subdivided into various bodies, and these bodies being drawn up in various forms and figures, the general arrangement was, except to the few chiefs and leaders, as unintelligible as the plan of a great battle to the meanest soldier in the field. It was not without its method, however; for, in a very short space of time after being put in motion, the crowd had resolved itself into three great parties, and were prepared, as had been arranged, to cross the river by different bridges, and make for the House of Commons in separate detachments. At the head of that division which had Westminster Bridge for its approach to the scene of action, Lord George Gordon took his post; with Gashford at his right hand, and sundry ruffians, of most unpromising appearance, forming a kind of staff about him. The conduct of a second party, whose route lay by Blackfriars, was entrusted to a committee of management, including perhaps a dozen men: while the third, which was to go by London Bridge, and through the main streets, in order that their numbers and their serious intentions might be the better known and appreciated by the citizens, were led by Simon Tappertit (assisted by a few subalterns, selected from the Brotherhood of United Bulldogs), Dennis the hangman, Hugh, and some others.
