On this site, I have deposited information about my research and teaching activity in theoretical physics, with a particular interest in Numerical Methods, and with interest in many fields, that you can find out about by a quick glance at my I'm also interested in Statistical Physics problems, like the hard sphere liquid. Check out this Physical Review Focus story, which explains in very simple terms some recent work on phase separation in mixtures of hard spheres. The paper Phase Separation in Two-Dimensional Additive Mixture is also 'richly' illustrated. If you want me to come give a talk on this subject, this page provides a possible abstract. Beware, there are two rather large but very nice pictures on it.

Condensed Matter Physics
Dr. Phillip Anderson, Professor Emeritus, Princeton University, 1977 Nobel Prize winner in Physics, and Prof. Shivaji Sondhi, Assistant Professor of Physics, Princeton University discuss Condensed Matter Physics (CMP). CMP, among other things, is the study of crystalline solids, and liquids. Research in condensed-matter physics has included the discovery of semiconductors in the 1920s, and a microscopic theory of superconductivity in the 1950s.
Prof. Sondhi quickly points out that when he is asked what he does, he is sometimes misheard as working in "condensed metaphysics". This is an intense conversation, and you must listen carefully to these gentlemen, as there is both a deep understanding of the topic, sprinkled liberally with anecdotes and examples from the past and present of this discipline.
CM Physicists generally start with what is known, and then work backward to reveal the origin of matter and of the universe. CM Physicists also model the "perfect" structure in order to note what is aberrant within a normal lattice. For example, by modeling what happens within lead when a current flows through it, they begin with the perfect model of the metal, and then examine those impurities or "aberrations" which effect the flow of the electrons. By making assumptions and working with a perfect model helps the CM physicist examine how things would operate under perfect conditions and helps in their investigation. This was an early technique used by the CM Physicist.
