Mother Teresa's tale da hun fik Nobel-prisen (1979)

Mother Teresa hed oprindelig Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu.

MOTHER TERESA'S FINE FOODS, INC.
Authentic Italian Food
While growing up in the southern province of Calabria, Italy, Teresa Polimeno, learned and developed her cooking skills from her italian mother. Homemade italian food and traditional italian cooking came in handy with this large family of nine children. After arriving in New York City in 1959 and then traveling to Houston, Texas to meet her husband, Teresa later began cooking the traditional Italian meals with her new family. Our original family recipes were typical meals which included a hearty plate of pasta with tomato sauce and a delicious green salad sprinkled with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and spices. Appetizers were always served in an Italian home meal and the southern part of Italy had its' regional specialities. Mediterranean cuisine consisted of bruschetta, pork loins - bracioli , seafood, culinary cheese recipes, olivata spread, veal saltimbocca alla romana , plenty of marinated vegetables, recipe choices for chicken dishes, lasagne, gourmet italian tomato sauces and as always a delicious green salad with fresh basil, olive oil and tomatoes. Oh, and don't forget, a nice loaf of Italian bread especially made for dipping sauces. When you are ready for your shopping list, remember that typical basic italian food ingredients necessary for authentic italian cooking are: olive oil, tomatoes, onions, garlic, basil, oregano and mushrooms. Here at Mother Teresa's Cusine, we would like to help you with your homemade italian cooking. Try one of our 100% natural, no preservatives products.

Mother Teresa was born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu in Skopje On October 7, 1950, Mother Teresa received permission from the Holy See to start her own order, "The Missionaries of Charity", whose primary task was to love and care for those persons nobody was prepared to look after. In 1965 the Society became an International Religious Family by a decree of Pope Paul VI. Today the order comprises Active and Contemplative branches of Sisters and Brothers in many countries. In 1963 both the Contemplative branch of the Sisters and the Active branch of the Brothers was founded. In 1979 the Contemplative branch of the Brothers was added, and in 1984 the Priest branch was established. The Society of Missionaries has spread all over the world, including the former Soviet Union and Eastern European countries. They provide effective help to the poorest of the poor in a number of countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, and they undertake relief work in the wake of natural catastrophes such as floods, epidemics, and famine, and for refugees. The order also has houses in North America, Europe and Australia, where they take care of the shut-ins, alcoholics, homeless, and AIDS sufferers. The Missionaries of Charity throughout the world are aided and assisted by Co-Workers who became an official International Association on March 29, 1969. By the 1990s there were over one million Co-Workers in more than 40 countries. Along with the Co-Workers, the lay Missionaries of Charity try to follow Mother Teresa's spirit and charism in their families.

While at World Youth Day in Paris, John Cardinal O’Connor recalled a meeting with Mother Theresa on the day he was elevated to the Sacred College of Cardinals, " I saw her as I was coming down the stairs of the High Altar at St. Peter’s Basilica and she said to me, 'Give God permission. Let God touch other people through you'."
From our Library Mother Teresa: The Early Years
"Keep the joy of loving the poor and share this joy with all you meet. Remember works of love are works of Peace. God Bless you."
- Mother Teresa Born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu on August 26, 1910, in Skopje, Macedonia, in the former Yugoslavia, she was the youngest of three children. In her teens, Agnes became a member of a youth group in her local pairsh called Sodality. Through her involvement with their activities guided by a Jesuit priest, Agnes became interested in missionaries. At age 17, she responded to her first call of a vocation as a Catholic missionary nun. She joined an Irish order, the Sisters of Loretto, a community known for their missionary work in India. When she took her vows as a Sister of Loretto, she chose the name Teresa after Saint Thérèse of Lisieux In Calcutta, Sister Teresa taught geography and cathechism at St. Mary's High School. In 1944, she became the principal of St. Mary's. Soon Sister Teresa contracted tuberculosis, was unable to continue teaching and was sent to Darjeeling for rest and recuperation. It was on the train to Darjeeling that she received her second call "the call within the call". Mother Teresa recalled later, "I was to leave the convent and work with the poor, living among them. It was an order. I knew where I belonged but I did not know how to get there."

Excerpts from Mother Teresa's letters to her spiritual advisers
"People say they are drawn close to God seeing my strong faith. Is this not deceiving people? Every time I have wanted to tell the truth that I have no faith the words just do not come my mouth remains closed. And yet I still keep on smiling at God and all." "I am told God lives in me and yet the reality of darkness and coldness and emptiness is so great that nothing touches my soul." "I want God with all power of my soul and yet between us there is terrible separation. I don't pray any longer. " "In my soul, I can't tell you how dark it is, how painful, how terrible I feel like refusing God." "Pray for me, Father. Inside of me there is so much of suffering Pray for me that I may not refuse God in this hour I don't want to do it but I am afraid I may do it. Pray for me." "Where I try to raise my thoughts to heaven, there is such convicting emptiness that those very thoughts return like sharp knives and hurt my very soul. Love the word it brings nothing."
