He published works on a number of subjects other than the thyroid gland including haemostasis, antiseptic treatments, surgical infectious diseases, on gunshot wounds, acute osteomyelitis , the theory of strangulated hernia, and abdominal surgery. En sucedi³ a Georg Albert Lucke como profesor de cirug­a de la Universidad de Berna y director de la Cl­nica Universitaria Quirºrgica de Berna, cargos que ocup³ hasta Public³ trabajos relativos a la gl¡ndula tiroides (ideando un m©todo para su trasplante), tratamientos antis©pticos, infecciones quirºrgicas, heridas de bala y osteomielitis aguda. Descubri³ un m©todo para reducir la luxaci³n del hombro e introdujo nuevas t©cnicas en las operaciones de hernia y de c¡ncer de est³mago. Realiz³ mejoras t©cnicas a numerosos tipos de operaciones quirºrgicas del pulm³n, el est³mago y la ves­cula biliar. En practic³ con ©xito la primera extirpaci³n del bocio , operaci³n que tuvo ocasi³n de repetir m¡s de 2000 veces dado que viv­a en una de las zonas m¡s boci³genas del mundo. Juli in Bern ) war ein Schweizer Chirurg und erhielt als bisher einziger Chirurg den Nobelpreis f¼r Medizin Emil Theodor Kocher begann seine wissenschaftliche Arbeit mit einer Reihe von Artikeln ¼ber H¤mostasis bei Verdrillung von Arterie n. Als er seine chirurgische Laufbahn antrat fand gerade ein Wechsel zwischen den althergebrachten septischen zu den neuartigen antiseptischen Behandlungsmethoden statt, die Kocher zu seiner Hauptaufgabe machte. Er entwickelte eine Reihe von Wundbehandlung smethoden mit leichten Chlor l¶sungen und weitere Methoden. Sp¤ter entwickelte er die ersten aseptischen Wundversorgungen. Durch seine Arbeit als Ausbilder f¼r Milit¤t¤rzte bekam Kocher auŸerdem Einblick in die Behandlung von Schusswunde n und machte dies zu einem weiteren Schwerpunkt seiner Arbeit. Auch ¼ber Knochenbr¼che und die Osteomyelitis arbeitete Kocher Neben der Wund- und Bruchbehandlung stellte die Chirurgie der inneren Organe einen wesentlichen Teil seiner Arbeit dar, etwa die Operation bei Magen - und Darm erkrankungen.
