Albert Einstein Quotes
"It is best, it seems to me, to separate one's inner striving from one's trade as far as possible. It is not good when one's daily break is tied to God's special blessing." Albert Einstein "It may affront the military-minded person to suggest a reqime that does not maintain any military secrets." Albert Einstein "It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure." Albert Einstein "So long as they don't get violent, I want to let everyone say what they wish, for I myself have always said exactly what pleased me." Albert Einstein "Teaching should be such that what is offered is perceived as a valuable gift and not as a hard duty." Albert Einstein "Gravity cannot be held responsible for people falling in love." Albert Einstein Thanks to "When you sit with a nice girl for two hours, it seems like two minutes. When you sit on a hot stove for two minutes, it seems like two hours that's relativity." Albert Einstein Thanks to "He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, scince for him the spinal cord would fully suffice. This disgrace to civilization should be done away with at once. Heroism at command, senseless brutality, deplorable love-of-country stance, how violently I hate all this, how despiceable an ignoreable war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be a part of so base an action! It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder." Albert Einstein

Albert Einstein og socialismen
af Albert Einstein
- ofte oversete

    Einstein, Albert (1879-1955)

German-American physicist who, in 1905, published three papers, each of which had a profound effect on the development of physics. In one paper, he proposed the theory of special relativity which provides a correct description for particles traveling at high speeds. The two postulates of the special theory of relativity were that the speed of light in a vacuum is constant and that the laws of physics are the same for all inertial reference frames. Einstein did know about the Michelson-Morley experiment null result, but was not familiar with Lorentz's work after 1895, so he reinvented the Lorentz transformation for himself (Pais 1982, p. 133). While special relativity required a modification of the laws of mechanics, the Maxwell equations were found to already satisfy the requirements of special relativity Using special relativity Einstein derived the equivalence of rest mass m and energy E , expressible as E p c m c , where c is the speed of light and p is the (relativistic) momentum . When relativistic mass is used instead (where ), the equation reduces to the famous

58. Inventor Albert Einstein
Fascinating facts about albert einstein, perhaps the most wellknown scientist of the 20th century.
    http://www.ideafinder.com/history/inventors/einstein.htm
Albert Einstein Fascinating facts about Albert Einstein, perhaps the most well-known scientist of the 20th century. Einstein, Albert (1879-1955), German-born American physicist and Nobel laureate, best known as the creator of the special and general theories of relativity and for his bold hypothesis concerning the particle nature of light. He is perhaps the most well-known scientist of the 20th century. Einstein was born in Ulm on March 14, 1879, and spent his youth in Munich, where his family owned a small shop that manufactured electric machinery. He did not talk until the age of three, but even as a youth he showed a brilliant curiosity about nature and an ability to understand difficult mathematical concepts. At the age of 12 he taught himself Euclidean geometry. Einstein hated the dull regimentation and unimaginative spirit of school in Munich. When repeated business failure led the family to leave Germany for Milan, Italy, Einstein, who was then 15 years old, used the opportunity to withdraw from the school. He spent a year with his parents in Milan, and when it became clear that he would have to make his own way in the world, he finished secondary school in Arrau, Switzerland, and entered the Swiss National Polytechnic in Zürich. Einstein did not enjoy the methods of instruction there. He often cut classes and used the time to study physics on his own or to play his beloved violin. He passed his examinations and graduated in 1900 by studying the notes of a classmate. His professors did not think highly of him and would not recommend him for a university position.

Peter Huber sends us the following message:
Work in Progress: "Biographical Dictionary of the Comintern"
Over 20 years ago B. Lazitch and M.M. Drachkovitch published a "Biographical Dictionary of the Comintern". Their sources were basically the publications of the Comintern, scientific contributions and memoirs of communists. With the opening of the Moscow archives, historians dispose of new authentic evidence. Many historians had the opportunity to verify what was known hitherto and to get new evidence. It is obvious that a new and expanded Dictionary of the Comintern is within reach. Although the access to personal files in the archives of Comintern is still difficult, historians dispose of general files that allow biographical research. We think we will have in the end about 2,000 small biographies of communists that worked at Comintern's headquarters or travelled there for political talks. A large number of specialists of national C.P.s agreed already to help to complete the biographies. We still look for specialists of the following C.P.s: - Poland - Bulgaria - Near East - Indochina - Philippines

    60. Discussions With Einstein On Epistemological Problems In Atomic Physics
Report by Niels Bohr of his discussions with albert einstein over many years on the epistemological implications of quantum theory.

    Niels Bohr (1949)
    Discussions with Einstein
on Epistemological Problems in Atomic Physics
Source : From Albert Einstein: Philosopher-Scientist (1949), publ. Cambridge University Press, 1949. Neils Bohr's report of conversations with Einstein and Einstein's reply. WHEN invited by the Editor of the series, Living Philosophers With unfailing intuition Einstein thus was led step by step to the conclusion that any radiation process involves the emission or absorption of individual light quanta or "photons" with energy and momentum E hf and P hs respectively, where h is Planck's constant, while f and s are the number of vibrations per unit time and the number of waves per unit length, respectively. Notwithstanding its fertility, the idea of the photon implied a quite unforeseen dilemma, since any simple corpuscular picture of radiation would obviously be irreconcilable with interference effects, which present so essential an aspect of radiative phenomena, and which can be described only in terms of a wave picture. The acuteness of the dilemma is stressed by the fact that the interference effects offer our only means of defining the concepts of frequency and wavelength entering into the very expressions for the energy and momentum of the photon. In this situation, there could be no question of attempting a causal analysis of radiative phenomena, but only, by a combined use of the contrasting pictures, to estimate probabilities for the occurrence of the individual radiation processes. However, it is most important to realize that the recourse to probability laws under such circumstances is essentially different in aim from the familiar application of statistical considerations as practical means of accounting for the properties of mechanical systems of great structural complexity. In fact, in quantum physics we are presented not with intricacies of this kind, but with the inability of the classical frame of concepts to comprise the peculiar feature of indivisibility, or "individuality," characterising the elementary processes.
