Il a partagé le prix Nobel dans la physique pour 1959 avec son collaborateur Emilio Segrè pour leur découverte du l'anti-proton, une particule fondamentale. Soutenu à San Francisco, Chamberlain a étudié la physique à l'université de Dartmouth (A.B. 1941) et à l'université de la Californie, Berkeley jusqu'à la manifestation de la deuxième guerre mondiale. Il a joint le projet de Manhattan en 1942, où il a travaillé avec Segrè, chez Berkeley et dans Los Alamos, Nouveau-Mexique. Il a marié le cuivre de Beatrice Babette en 1943, qui il a eu quatre enfants. En 1946, après la guerre, Chamberlain a continué son travail de doctorat à l'université de Chicago sous le physicien légendaire Enrico Fermi. These cross sections are compared to attenuation measurements made with the same geometry using positive protons of the same incident energy (497 Mev). The measurements were made at cut-off angles theta c The cross section results are: for copper at theta c sigma p sigma p 0.069; and for beryllium at theta c sigma p sigma p 0.013, where the units are 10 cm . Back to Table of Contents Letter from the editors... The end of that year most of the founders graduated, and unfortunately Buzzsaw died out. This is for a number of reasons: too few being asked to do too much; inexperience in terms of production; maybe even simple lack of interest, at times. And a few personal thanks: Jen Chamberlain, who is the best co-editor any unorganized college boy could ask for (MVP?); Dan Greenman, who arrived a bit late to the party but contributed in a huge way, especially with layout, hence the deserved title of editor; Owen Perry, who got us started with a bang even if he had to go get drunk in Tunisia; and everyone who wrote, took photos, or simply gave us a few words of support.
