Russian Literature at Yale
Pushkin to Nabokov: Russian Literature at Yale , the exhibition on view at the Beinecke Library until July 15, celebrates the bicentenary of Aleksandr Pushkin (1799-1837), Russia's greatest writer, and the centenary of Vladimir Nabokov (1899-1977), the best-known exiled Russian writer of the twentieth century. The names Pushkin and Nabokov were permanently linked in 1964 when Nabokov published his controversial English version of Pushkin's most famous work, the verse novel Eugene Onegin . Nabokov embedded his literal translation of Pushkin's tale of failed love and senseless death in a long and witty commentary, and the whole was issued in four volumes by the Princeton University Press as part of its Bollingen Series. The exhibition now on view at the Beinecke begins with an array of Pushkin's works in their first editions. During his tragically short life (he was killed in a duel at age 38), Pushkin wrote lyric poetry, narrative poems and tales ( The gypsies, Count Nulin, The bronze horseman

"Acting Strategies for the Cyber Age" has been published by Heinemann and is arriving in book stores. This is my most personal book to date, and I hope you like it. In it, I speak of how actors can empower themselves in the cyber age while re-empowering themselves as shamans. The price is right, only $14. You can order it here on this site. THE HOOKS TRANSITION TO CHICAGO IS UNDERWAY, BUT ED IS STILL IN SAN FRANCISCO
I'll teach in San Francisco through August. We still have time to work together if you start soon. Don't wait! I've signed a lease on an apartment in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood, just north of Lincoln Park, a couple of blocks from the water, close to the El. I plan to move there the first week of
September and will begin teaching in Chicago shortly after that. I'm currently shopping for studio space in Chicago for my classes, and I have begun to advertise classes in Performink

AUTHORS ON THE WEB
A Collection of Biographical Sketches
This page is an attempt to bring together literary author biographies available on the World Wide Web. The biographies vary in quality, timeliness, length, and authority. If you don't find a biography here and know of one, please send it along. If there is no biography available, write one and send it along. It will take time for this page to become one of substance. And, in keeping with the beauty of the medium, it will continually grow and change. Credit for this page must go to Dr. Gretchen Whitney at The University of Tennessee where I was a graduate student in the School of Information Science . Dr. Whitney's "dead German" assignment gave me inspiration for this page. She also taught me HTML. She may have created a monster. Last revised: August 17, 2002. As a new dimension to this page, I am attempting to locate biographies on Nobel Prize winners in Literature. Those I include will include a notation, (Nobel, year). Much of the information for this portion comes from The Nobel Prize Internet Archive
