Bovet, Daniel (szül. 1907. márc. 23. Neuchâtel, Svájc - megh. 1992. ápr. 8. Róma, Olaszország), farmakológus; egyes kemoterápiás szerek felfedezéséért megkapta az 1957-es orvosi Nobel-díjat. Bovet Genfben tanult, a doktori címet 1929-ben szerezte meg. A párizsi Pasteur Intézetben 1937-ben lett a gyógyszerkémiai laboratórium vezetôje. 1944-ben felfedezte a pyrilamint (mepyramin), az elsô antihisztamint, amely a hisztamin hatását ellensúlyozva hatásos az allergiás reakciók ellen. A kuráre (izomlazító szer) szintetikus analógjának kutatása során 1947-ben fedezte fel a gallamint és más izomlazítókat. Ezek között vannak a szukcinil-kolin származékok, amelyeknek kuráreszeru hatását elsôként ismerte fel. A kurárét és szintetikus analógjait az enyhe altatás során használják mutét alatti izomlazítás céljából. 1947-ben meghívták Rómába, hogy hozzon létre egy kemoterápiás laboratóriumot, majd olasz állampolgárságot kapott. 1964-ben az olaszországi Sassari Egyetemen lett a farmakológia tanára. A római országos kutatóközpont pszichobiológiai és pszichofarmakológiai laboratóriumának vezetôje volt 1969-tôl 1971-ig, 1971 és 1982 között a Római Egyetemen volt, a pszichobiológia professzora. Figlio di Pierre Bovet, docente di pedagogia all'Università di Ginevra, che era stato il più giovane professore di filosofia della Svizzera e di Amy Babut. Nel 1935, con la pubblicazione di un articolo di Gerhard Domagk sulla chemioterapia delle infezioni batterica con il Prontosil rosso, un colorante industriale, si apriva l'era dei sulfamidici. Fourneau e Bovet iniziavano immediatamente ad indagarne le potenzialità in clinica e i meccanismi d'azione. Nel programma di ricerca sui sulfamidici veniva coinvolto Federico Nitti, un batteriologo napoletano costretto a seguire il padre nell'esilio politico impostogli dal fascismo. Lo stesso anno, Bovet e Nitti dimostravano che l'azione antibatterica del preparato descritto da Domagk era opera della sola frazione sulfamidica della molecola di Prontosil.

L'histoire de l'Institut Pasteur C'est une fondation privée, à but non lucratif, reconnue d'utilité publique. Dès la création de son institut, Pasteur réunit des scientifiques d'horizons divers. Les 5 premiers services ont alors à leur tête deux normaliens : Emile Duclaux (Microbie générale) et Charles Chamberland (Microbie appliquée à l'hygiène) ; un biologiste, Elie Metchnikoff (Microbie morphologique) ; et deux médecins, Joseph Grancher (Rage) et Emile Roux (Microbie technique). Un an après l'inauguration de l'Institut Pasteur, Roux mettra en place le premier enseignement de microbiologie jamais dispensé au monde, intitulé alors " Cours de Microbie technique ". Très rapidement, des chercheurs vont essaimer à travers le monde, pour appliquer et transmettre la " méthode pasteurienne " et pour étudier les caractères particuliers de maladies exotiques. Ainsi, parallèlement à l'essor de l'Institut Pasteur, se constituera le Réseau international des Instituts Pasteur et Instituts associés qui compte aujourd'hui quelque 20 établissements implantés sur les cinq continents. L'Institut Pasteur fut l'un des berceaux de la Microbiologie, de l'Immunologie et de la Biologie moléculaire.

Daniel Bovet premio Nobel per "La Medicina" nel 1957 Daniel Bovet nasce a Neuchâtel, in Svizzera il 23 marzo 1907; è figlio di Pierre Bovet, docente di pedagogia all'Università di Ginevra, che era stato il più giovane professore di filosofia della Svizzera e di Amy Babut. Completata l'istruzione secondaria a Ginevra si iscrive alla facoltà di scienze naturali della locale Università. Nel 1927 si laurea con Guyénot con una tesi sulla rigenerazione nei tritoni. Due anni più tardi inizia a lavorare a Parigi con Ernest Forneau (1872 - 1949) nel laboratorio di chimica dell'Institute Pasteur, prestigiosa istituzione allora diretta da Emil Roux. Fourneau era il fondatore della chimica terapeutica in Francia, grande chimico teorico, capace appena entrato all'Institute Pasteur di scoprire una serie di nuovi preparati arsenicali, della famiglia chimica del Salvarsan introdotto da Ehrlich nel 1909 e di individuarne altri la cui composizione era stata tenuta segreta dai tedeschi, come la suramina, usata per il trattamento della malattia del sonno. Il lavoro con Fourneau fu decisivo per la maturazione di Bovet e l'indirizzo di tutte le sue ricerche successive.
