The two latter tribes did not come down to the lower camp but sent word by the Lipan that they wished to treat with the Mexican Authorities for peace He says that they have four American children of some 8 or 10 years of age.

James II (1437 - 1460)
Portrait of James II At six years old James heard of his father's murder and over the next few years he would experience much more in the way of political killings. He was never comfortable in public because of a large red birth-mark that earned him the nickname 'James of the Fiery Face'. Maybe partly because of this he grew up to be a ruthless and conniving king who was capable of murder himself if he felt the situation warranted it. In 1449 he assumed control of the government and also married Mary of Gueldres, niece of Philip the Good of Burgundy. In 11 years of marriage she was to bear six children, four sons and two daughters. At the beginning of his reign there was the usual vying for power which accompanies the sudden death of a monarch whose heir is a minor. In the main it was the Douglas family, who owned extensive lands in the south-west, who were the leading protagonists. Others involved included Sir William Crichton, Governor of Edinburgh Castle, Sir Alexander Livingstone, Governor of Stirling Castle, and James Kennedy, Bishop of St Andrews. By 1439 his mother had decided that Edinburgh was becoming dangerous and smuggled James out of the Castle and took him to Stirling. This proved to be a futile attempt at preserving James safety as a few months later he was abducted by the Crichtons and taken to Edinburgh.

Born 14 Oct 1946
American molecular geneticist who pioneered the use of automated gene sequencers. In 1990, he developed "expressed sequence tags" (ESTs), a new strategy for gene discovery and tagging that revolutionized the biological sciences. In 1995, Venter, in collaboration with Hamilton Smith, determined the DNA sequence of the entire genome (all the genetic material of an organism) of Hemophilus influenzae, a bacterium that causes earaches and meningitis in humans. The achievement marked the first time that the complete sequence of a free-living organism had been deciphered, and it was accomplished in less than a year. He founded the Institute for Genomic Research (TIGR). By 2000, his company Celera Genomics sequenced the human genome.

American electrical engineer, a pioneer in radio-thermics, who made major contributions to the development of radio and television broadcast antennas. In 1936, Brown invented the so-called turnstyle antenna for television broadcasting. Because of this, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) adopted a TV system of 441 lines. In 1938, Brown developed the vestigial sideband filter for use in television transmission, doubling the horizontal resolution of television pictures at any given bandwith. During WW II, with RCA’s researchers, George Brown’s group used radio-frequency heating in the bulk dehydration of penicillin at E.R. Squibb, a "sewing machine" for thermoplastics, and more consistent riveting and welding techniques.

Administrative/Biographical History
The playwright and novelist James Matthew Barrie, son of a weaver, was born in Kirriemuir, Angus, on 9 May 1860. He was educated at the academies in Glasgow, Forfar and Dumfries and then studied at Edinburgh University where he was awarded the degree of M.A. in 1882. Barrie served as a journalist on the staff of the Nottingham Journal for a year and a half before returning to Kirriemuir to write sketches of Scottish life for the St James's Gazette and the Cornhill Magazine . The semi-fictional tales were set in Thrums (Kirriemuir to all intents and purposes). In 1885, he moved to London where he wrote for numerous magazines and journals, and his first novel Better dead was written in 1886, followed by

http://www.pjfarmer.com/chronicles/magnificent_gordons.htm
The Magnificent Gordons By Mark K. Brown In the annals of the Wold Newton families, there is one family which has not yet recieved the attention it deserves. This would be that ancient and noble lineage: the Gordons. The family originates in Berwickshire, but Sir Adam of Gordon was granted the castle of Strathbogie, in Aberdeenshire by Robert the Bruce. The Gordons were powerful and very involved in British politics over the centuries. Among the famous members of the clan are George Gordon, Lord Byron, the notorious poet, and General Charles Gordon of Khartoum, the hero of Africa. One branch of the Gordons who lent their blood to the Wold Newton families is the line stemming from the above Lord Byron, a line described by noted genealogist Philip Jose Farmer which includes Lord John Roxton , Richard Wentworth, and Mack Bolan. Here I am concerned with a different line, descended from Orion Gordon, who has been described as "a printer and intelligence operative for the crown," and Dorothy Blake, of Boston. We pick up the trail a few generations after Orion and Dorothy. Charles Gordon (born 1786) married his distant cousin, Antonia Drummond. Antonia was the daughter of sir Hugh Drummond, baronet, and Georgia Dewhurst. Charles' father was a descendant of Orion Gordon. His mother was a Glenmore, descended from Robert Glenmore, Earl of Dalbright. Robert had two sons, Robert II (who followed his father as Earl), and Edward. Edward went to Germany and then Sweden, ca. 1631. Among his many children, his first son remained in Sweden and became the ancestor of the mother of Matt Helm, the American assassin whose memoirs have been edited by Donald Hamilton. Robert II was the ancestor of Charles Gordon, and of Sir Hugh Drummond's mother.

Synopsis:
Edited by: Robert Weinberg, Stefan Dziemianowicz, Stefan Dziemianowicz Match wits with great detectives, devious criminals, and some of the finest minds in the all-time annals of detective literature. From crime-suspense (Tom Curry's "The Sign") to hard-boiled fiction ("A Hand of Pinochle") to modern noir ("Soul's Burning" by Bill Pronzini), the scope of these 100 detective stories is as wide as the tales are short. They're the brainchildren of such top names as James M. Barrie ("The Adventure of the Two Collaborators"), O. Henry ("The Mystery of the Rue de Peychaud"), Charles Dickens ("An Artful Touch"), Bret Harte ("The Stolen Cigar-Case"), Jack London ("The Leopard Man's Story"), R.L. Stevens ("The Carnival Caper"), Stephen Deninger ("Damsel with a Derringer"), Nick Spain ("Duck Behind that Eight-Ball!"), and countless others. There's even one by Abraham Lincoln, "The Trailor Murder Mystery," which appeared in 1843. Prison breakouts, grand larceny, homicide: trying to solve these tricky cases will be a treat for all mystery fans.
