'''Emil Adolf von Behring''' ( March 15 March 31 ) was born at Hansdorf , Eylau, Germany . Between and , he studied medicine at the ''Army Medical College'' in Berlin . He was mainly a military doctor and then became Professor of Hygienics within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Marburg (against the initial strenuous opposition of the faculty council), a position he would hold for the rest of his life.
Behring won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in for developing a serum therapy against diphtheria and tetanus . The former had been a scourge of the population, especially children, whereas the other was a leading cause of death in wars, killing the wounded. Behring died at Marburg , Germany, on March 31 however, his name lives on in Dade Behring, the world's largest company dedicated solely to clinical diagnostics.

Am 2. Oktober trat er in die Corps Suevo-Borussia - einer Studentenverbindung - an. wurde er promoviert, an das in Berlin zu Robert Koch berufen, wo er im Sommer Japaner Shibasaburo Kitasato das Tetanusantitoxin entdeckte; seit Paul Ehrlich - an der Entwicklung der Diphtherieantitoxine , wo auch die Behring-Werke entstanden. Serum therapie, vor allem im Kampf gegen die Diphterie , wurde er im Jahre mit dem ersten Nobelpreis adelt

    In diesem Jahr wird der Medizin-Nobelpreis zum hundersten Mal verliehen. Emil von Behring erhielt am 30. Oktober 1901 den ersten Nobelpreis für Medizin. Damit wurde seine bahnbrechende Arbeit im Bereich der Serumtherapie und besonders deren Anwendung gegen die Diphtherie, "dem Würgeengel der Kinder", gewürdigt.

    A partir de 1901 adelante la salud de Behring le impidio dar conferencias regulares y el se dedico principalemente al estudio de tuberculosis. Para facilitar su trabajo una casa de comercio a la cual el tenia un interes financiero, construido para el laboratorios bien provistos en Marburg y en 1914 el el mismo fundo, tambien en Marburg, el Behringwerke para la fabricacion de sueros y vacunas y para el trabajo experimental sobre estos. Su asociacion con la produccion de sueros y vacunas lo hizo economicamente prospero y el poseyo un estado grande en Marburg, que fue bien abastecido del ganado que el uso para objetivos experimentales. La gran mayoria de las numerosas publicaciones de Behring ha sido hecha facilmente disponible en las ediciones de su Gesammelte Abhandlungen (Papeles Tranquilos) en 1893 y 1915. En 1896 Behring se caso con uno de 18 anos Ademas Spinola, la hija del Director del Charite en Berlin. Ellos tenian a siete ninos. Behring murio en Marburg el 31 de marzo de 1917.

Der belgische Bakteriologe Jules Baptiste Vincent Bordet (1870-1961) den deutschen Bakteriologen August von Wassermann (1866-1925) entwickelt und ist heute noch als „Wassermanntest“ bekannt.
