Nobels fredspris gennem 100 år
Af Peter Mikael Hansen „Nobels fredspris 1901-2000. Hundre år for fred“ er udgivet af det norske forlag Cappelen i forbindelse med jubilæumsfejringen i 2001 af den første fredpris.
Værket er den første sammenfattende præsentation af Nobels fredspris, som er skrevet på norsk på grundlag af om-fattende studier i Nobelinstituttets arkiver.
Kvalitetsfyldt fremstilling
Bogen indledes med en oversigtsartikel om Alfred Nobel, Nobelkomitéen og Det Norske Nobelinstitut. Derefter præsenteres alle prisvinderne kronologisk i syv hovedkapitler, før bogen afsluttes med et essay om fredsprisvindernes syn på hvordan freden bedst kan fremmes.
”Fremstillingen er fagligt solid, men den har samtidig fået en populær form beregnet på et bredt publikum”, skriver forlaget Cappelen i en pressemeddelelse i forbindelse med udgivelse af bogen.
Det kan man kun give forlaget ret i. Værket er af høj faglig kvalitet, det er rigt illustreret fra begyndelsen til enden, historierne er spændende, rimeligt detaljerede og fyldestgørende. Hvem kender ikke Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King, Burmas Aung San Suu Kyi (som bogen i øvrigt er dediceret til), Nelson Mandela, Rigoberta Menchu, Desmond Tutu og organisationer som Kvækerne, FNs højkommissariat for flygtninge, Den internationale Lægeforening mod Atomkrig, Kampagnen mod Landminer, Læger uden Grænser og Røde Kors som i øvrigt har fåeet den to gange (1917 og 1944). Alle kan man nikke genkendende til og rimeligvis forstå, hvorfor de fik fredsprisen. Men også den (desværre) ikke nær så berømte Carl von Ossietzky (han fik fredsprisen i 1935) har fået megen omtale i værket – og med rette. Erfaringerne fra vestfronten under 1. Verdenskrig fik Carl til at fornægte krig. Han blev principiel modstander af vold og beundrer af Gandhis ikke-voldsfilosofi. Hans mål blev ”opdragelse til fred”.

Fredrik Bajer (født 21. april i Vester Egede ved Næstved , død 22. januar i København ) var en dansk forfatter , lærer og pacifistisk politiker som sammen med svenskeren Klas Pontus Arnoldson modtog Nobels Fredspris i Præstesønnen Bajer var officer i den danske hær og kæmpede som løjtnant i krigen i mod Preussen og Østrig . I blev han hjemsendt og flyttede til København, hvor han blev lærer, oversætter og forfatter. Hans hustru, Mathilde Bajer (f. Schlüter), var medstifter af Dansk Kvindesamfund i I blev Bajer valgt til Folketinget for Det forenede Venstre, hvor han havde sæde indtil . I var Bajer sammen med Henri Dunant initiativtager til det Internationale Fredskontor, som han var præsident for indtil
