Geometry: Computer Fun
On this page we've put together a small collection of QBasic programs that help you solve some of the more common problems geometry deals with, such as finding the measure of the third angle of a triangle when you know the other two angles' measures. Have fun! Note that although the code is included on this page, there are links you can click on that will allow you to download the files in .BAS (QBasic v1.1) format. If any problems arise, feel free to E-Mail John at jpp22@email.byu.edu . Also, feel free to edit these programs and do whatever you want with them (they are public domain http://www.microsoft.com/windows/download/olddos.exe . (It is included in an archive of old MS-DOS utilities.) For those using other operating systems, there are many "unofficial" compilers available. Search the Internet and you'll find a number of them. Finding the Third Angle of a Triangle
This program asks the user for the measures (in degrees) of two angles of a triangle and then figures out the measure of the third angle.

Plenary Speaker:
Sandor Kovacs
, Associate Professor, Mathematics Math Day Overview Cutting-edge topics in the mathematical sciences are presented by top faculty during this one-day event. Participants choose among six morning and three afternoon sessions covering topics ranging from predicting the weather to hyperbolic geometry. Panel discussions, one on careers in mathematics and the other on the experiences of undergraduate math students, round out the day's activities. Participants take field trips to various campus laboratories and facilities where mathematics is put to use every day, including the virtual reality (HIT) lab, planetarium, Puget Sound simulator, and computer labs. Access to these field trips is limited. Tickets are distributed randomly to every school. (The number of tickets distributed is half the number of students registered.) Access to some of the hands-on activities will also be limited and tickets will be distributed. You are encouraged to register early. Registration is limited to 1,100 students.

Computer Vision - Geometry
Structure and Motion from Geometric Features Anders Heyden, Björn Johansson, Fredrik Kahl, Magnus Oskarsson, Kalle Åström One of the classical problems in computer vision is to recover the scene structure and the motion of a camera from a sequence of images. This is known as the structure and motion problem . Most approaches to solve this problem are based on point features. In series of papers, other geometric primitives have been utilised in order to estimate the unknown scene geometry and camera motion, ranging from a pair of images to arbitrarily many images. In [ ] algorithms for points, lines and conics - or any combination of them - were developed for both perspective and affine camera models. Apparent contours, i.e. the projection of contours or silhouettes, is also a rich source of information. In [ ], the camera motion has been estimated using apparent contours obtained from a sequence of images. Projections of space curves are also common features in images and an approach based on such corresponding image curves is presented in [ Lately much of the attention in this research area has been focused on building Structure and Motion systems as described in
