Sustainable Animal Production - Visions for the 21th century Welcome to our Website
Sustainable animal production is a system which preserves the basis of life of future generations. The foundations, conditions and perspectives for animal production are exceedingly variable in different parts of the world. This project focusses on the future supply and quality of food for humans and animals, animal welfare and health, the effects of animal production on the environment, the influences of new technologies, future animal production sites and global trade. These pages contain the Conference Sustainable Animal Production , the documentation of a multidisciplinary project to develop a global vision for the future of the production of food of animal origin. This site is also intended as a forum to continue the dialogue begun in the virtual conference and workshop series "Sustainable Animal Production". The project was realized by a consortium of scientists from four research institutions in northern Germany and includes a virtual conference launched in October, 1999, and followed by a series of

Principles on Achieving Environmental Goals on Farmland
Compliance with Laws and Regulations
The agriculture industry, as is the case with all other sectors of the economy, has had to comply with various laws and regulations for decades; including those dealing with environmental protection. The Waste Management Act, Water Act, Fisheries Act, and Pesticide Control Act are a few of the laws with which farmers and ranchers must comply. When conducting their businesses, agricultural operators are expected to exercise due diligence to ensure that their businesses conform to the requirements of these laws. Principle: Compliance and due diligence are the responsibility of farmers and ranchers and part of the cost of doing business in British Columbia.
Expediting Compliance
Public agencies have a range of options for promoting compliance including; education and awareness, partnerships, assistance, inspections, monitoring, auditing, warnings, orders and prosecutions. Most jurisdictions have found education and awareness and assistance approaches, when used in combination with regulatory options, to be effective ways of expediting on-farm changes that bring operations into compliance. The Manure Storage Program, funded by Investment Agriculture, has demonstrated the success of the assistance approach.

105. Welcome To Terraseed Ltd
Provides a new seedmat system for landscaping for agriculture, amenity, forestry and environment. UK.
http://www.terraseed.com
Terraseed is “advancing crop technology” by offering a major step-change in food quality, assurance and safety, to the benefit of consumers, food retailers, suppliers and the environment.
This is achieved by the use of physical barrier systems, replacing agrochemicals for weed, insect and disease control. Public anxiety about food safety and health is addressed by Terraseed technology through reducing the threat of salmonella and E.coli contamination in fresh salad crops. The technology also has applications in pharmaceutical crops and herbs. Terraseed is proven in organic farming for salad and vegetable production and makes large-scale organic production viable, where consumer demand exceeds the ability of leading growers to supply.
Cos lettuce crop ready for harvest The technology also benefits the production of tree seedlings for amenity and forestry industries, which are under enormous cost and environmental pressure.
Terraseed provides a very positive image in an industry where the technology has often been portrayed as potentially harmful or controversial. The system replaces agrochemicals and is not dependent on genetic modification (GM).

Welcome to Nizwa.NET
Nizwa is one of the largest cities in Oman and the capital of the interior region. It has a wealth of cultural and ancient landmarks, most prominent is Nizwa fort built over a period of 12 years and located in the city center. The fort is surrounded by ancient traditional souqs (markets) where the locals trade in traditional as well as imported merchandise, from vegetables to jewelry. Nizwa is an oasis in the enclosed by a series of mountains upon which the famous green mountain ( al Jabal al Akhdar ) lies. The city is also at cross roads that lead to southern Oman as well as the Dhahirah and Sharqiah regions.
Nizwa.NET is educational, public, web site with the purpose of spreading awareness about the country of Oman in the Middle East. Nizwa.NET started as "Nizwa Oasis" and hosted by geocities but due to the popularity of the site, it was often blocked when bandwidth reached its maximum limits. Nizwa.NET was born out of that site with pretty much the same information but with more flexibility and ease of navigation. Besides tourist information, the site focuses on issues related to agriculture and the environment. Besides original contents, some of the information on this site is collected over time from various sources that are indicated at the bottom of each page. I hope you will find the useful and if you have comments or suggestions, please do not hesitate to send your feedback. Home Grower's Handbooks Business Opportunities Research Archive NASA Research ... Links Introduction Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) is an advanced and intensive form of hydroponically-based agriculture. Plants are grown within a controlled environment so that horticultural practices can be optimized. CEA techniques are not simpler than older systems for growing plants. Indeed, they demand sound knowledge of chemistry, horticulture, engineering, plant physiology, plant pathology, computers and entomology. A wide range of skills as well as a natural inclination to attend to details are necessary for a person to operate a successful CEA production in either a research or commercial setting. Marchers in miniskirts show independence
By the A.M. Costa Rica staff
Independence day parades are organized by educators, so the word from the ministry is supposed to be law. Among other rules is one that says students had to march and participate in any other civic act at their school.
But the miniskirt situation has been the
topic of newspaper editorials and official comments for most of the administration of
Forbidden skirt
Abel Pacheco. Each year the ministry decrees against miniskirts, and each year tons of female marchers wear them. If the ministry enforces its edict, most female students will have 30 days off from school. More serious Thursday was the traditional student beer party in Moravia centro. Underage drinkers, mostly 14, 15 and 16 year olds, usually Kindergarteners from the Las Gravilias school of Desamparados show off their determination as well as their flag.
