About Me Quiz Trivia ... Search The Web! Paleontology is the study of prehistoric life. Most people instantly think of dinosaurs, but there is much more to paleontology than that. It includes the study of all animals and plants (paleobotany) that lived in prehistoric times, as well as the earth's physical properties, such as geography and climate This website began 3 years ago as an 8th grade school project. Even though the project, as well as 8th grade, are long over, the site is still here. I've had a fascination with paleo since I was a small child, and hopefully you find it interesting as well. Who couldn't? It's like being transported back in time. I think it's amazing to realize that the stories of monstrous dinosaurs are actually true, and that earth's history goes back far beyond the experiences of humans. Prehistoric earth can seem almost like a whole other world.
However it is our own world, just in its youth. It is like having the ability to travel back in time, to see what was there before us, what makes us what we are today. To realize that we are only a small part of a very big picture.

Fossil Information for Beginners
A private collection of fossils is on view here, well worth exploring for its wealth of diversity: dinosaurs, corals, trilobites, and plants are just a few groups represented. Most of the specimens come from Australia, and most are dated to the geologic period in which the specimens originally lived.
