Founded in 1972 by geophysicist/oceanographer, Maurice Ewing, it conducts investigations of the history, structure, and dynamics of the Earth's crust, sediments and cryosphere, of past and future climate conditions, and of earthquake phenomena. UTIG is a research component of the Jackson School of Geosciences and conducts basic and applied geophysical research and graduate student training for The University of Texas at Austin.

Geophysics
Staff ... Index to Volume 69 Geophysics , published by SEG since 1936, is an archival journal encompassing all aspects of research, exploration, and education in applied geophysics. Its articles, generally more than 175 per year in six issues, cover the entire spectrum of geophysical methods, including seismology, potential fields, electromagnetics, and borehole measurements. Geophysics , a bimonthly, provides theoretical and mathematical tools needed to reproduce depicted work, encouraging further development and research. Geophysics papers, drawn from industry and academia, undergo a rigorous peer-review process to validate the described methods and conclusions and ensure the highest editorial and production quality. Geophysics editors strongly encourage the use of real data, including actual case histories to highlight current technology and tutorials to stimulate ideas. One or two issues per year feature a section of solicited papers on a particular subject of current interest. Recent special sections focused on near-surface geophysics, shallow seismic reflections, mining geophysics, P-wave anisotropy, and seismic signatures of fluid transport.

Tall and tanned and older and lovely
