Thanks to geomatics, it is now possible for farmers to adapt their farming methods by taking account of the internal variability of the same plot of land. What is geomatics? Geomatics is defined like a discipline which manage the data with space reference and calls upon the sciences and technologies connected to their acquisition, their storage, their treatment and their diffusion. Use of geomatic in agriculture Geomatic, by its fundamental disciplines (photogrammetry, geodesy, spatial references information systems, numerical cartography, teledetection, land legislation) and sciences which are related (data processing, physics, mathematics, right, cognitive sciences), offers farmers and operators in relation with the agricultural world the numerical methods of data acquisition to spatial reference, representation, storage, treatment and diffusion of spatial information. Thus, geomatics is a support to the decision-making. Geomatic technologies, used within the framework of precision agriculture, enable farmers to be more operational in their farming methods within the same plot. Indeed, the most significant thing in precision agriculture is the ability to identify within the plot the areas of variation (following the grounds, the output and the fertilization parameters). The objective is to subdivide the territory, in homogeneous parts, for better management. It is thus significant to position correctly the plots as well as the samples and other information collected with the fields. Geomatic technologies considered are :

Data are portrayed as hard copy maps and disseminated as digital data sets. This includes the size, location, and names of planetary features. The goal is to provide geographically referenced data that can be displayed as layers and analyzed by planetary scientists

Contact Information In January 2000, the Applied Geomatics Research Group (AGRG) was established in Middleton with funding from the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI). The initial research focused on the application of LIDAR and CASI data for environmental research in the Annapolis Valley (our field laboratory). Surface model of Bridgetown created from Lidar. Today this research group provides two functions: 1) Opportunities for Advanced Diploma graduates at the Centre of Geographic Sciences (COGS) to undertake research projects, utilizing the full suite of Geomatics technologies: GIS, GPS and Remote Sensing, in addition to environmental monitoring instrumentation. 2) Opportunities for university research groups, government agencies and the private sector to collaborate with AGRG in the investigation of new applications of these technologies and data sets. An application of systems of linear equations to geomatics (surveying)
    Background
Vertical curves for roads are often designed to have a vertical, parabolic cross-section. The mathematical form of these curves is the customary parabolic form y = ax + bx + c. In laying out these curves surveyors use four design parameters to determine the coefficients a,b and c. Looking at the diagram these four values can be explained. The first one is the elevation above the datum line at BVC, the beginning of the vertical curve; the second is the grade (G ) of the road at BVC i.e. the slope of the tangent to the parabola at BVC; the third is the grade (G ) of the road at EVC, the end of the vertical curve; and the last is the horizontal length (L) of the curve from BVC to EVC. G and G are usually expresses as % grades. These grades are often posted at the roadside at the beginning of steep hills. Knowing a little of the geometry of the parabola it is relatively easy to show that
and c = elevation at BVC so that the equation of the parabola becomes
    Question
A vertical curve of horizontal length 300m passes through the three points given below where horizontal distance is measured from BVC and elevation is height above the datum line.
