As you explore our web pages, I believe that you will notice some important differences between us and similar Faculties at other Universities. For instance we have only two Schools (or Departments): the School of Computing, Science and Engineering (CSE) and the School of Environment and Life Sciences (ELS). In CSE, scientists and engineers with expertise in many different areas including multimedia and the internet, computing, aviation, physics, space technology, robotics, music recording, acoustics and nanotechnology all work together to develop courses and research programmes in both their own speciality subjects and also in interdisciplinary areas of increasing importance to 21st century society. Similarly in ELS, scientists with interests in areas such as biology, biochemistry, environmental health, urban studies, wildlife conservation, cancer studies and infectious diseases (and many more related areas) study and teach their own subjects but also work at the boundaries between the different topics. It is in this way that we develop graduates with the skills needed now and in the future. | |
