43. Membership In MSCD And RSCDS--Madison Wisconsin Scottish Country Dancers
I am joining mscd and RSCDS/John Muir Branch, and enclose $30.00. Checks payable to mscd. I am joining the RSCDS/John Muir Branch only,
http://sprott.physics.wisc.edu/mscd/membership.htm
Membership in MSCD and RSCDS
You do not have to be a member of Madison Scottish Country Dancers or the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society to come to a Sunday night class. The classes are free and open to all. You may become a MSCD member at any time of the year; our fee is $15. For your $15, you get your name included (if you so desire) in our local membership list and group e-mail list; you get copies of cheat sheets, flyers and calendars; you get the opportunity to serve on the Board; and you get the warm feeling of having supported your local Scottish country dance organization. You also get to vote at the annual meeting! Since Madison Scottish Country Dancers are now part of the new John Muir (Wisconsin) Branch, you also are invited to join RSCDS as a Branch member, for the low, low price of $20, rather than the Headquarters membership of 17 pounds (approx $33). As an RSCDS member, you receive the Dance Books and Bulletins, a $5 discount on our 2005 Ball admission, as well as the ability to attend St Andrews, and to obtain teacher training. Your Branch/RSCDS membership also helps support Scottish Country Dancing world-wide. Youthful dancers, please note: RSCDS membership is open to anyone 16 years or older. Fees:
  • $15 Madison Scottish Country Dancers $5 Madison Scottish Country Dancers (youth membership -16 and under)
  • $30 Madison SCD and John Muir Branch $20 John Muir Branch only
Since we send 10 pounds, approximately $19, to Edinburgh for every Branch membership, the $30 joint membership saves you another $4-$5.

Get new questions delivered by e-mail: Q: How Important is the MCSD? I am considering getting this cert but I am not sure how important this cert is in getting a job. Is this as important as the MSCE in getting your foot in the door. I want to get in software development but I do not the empahsis on this cert. I see more emphasis on actual ability and experience.
What does everyone else feel about this?
Web CertFAQ.com
An MCSD is not nearly as important as your prospective employer's perception of your coding competence for the enterprise, but it may go far to shore up this perception. Despite the fact that VB is the world's preeminent RAD language, the cert never took off like the MCSE. Ability to do the work is king. Moreover, ability, or the lack thereof, is difficult to hide and developers know this. Tony Q: I've been in the IT industry since the mid 80's. I've been programming in VB6 for about 4 years now. I seem to be having trouble finding another programming job. Has an MCSD made the difference for anybody else. It is quite an expense that I really cannot afford waste. Has anybody used it to switch gears and move to another branch, say an MCSE? I've never seen a company ask for someone with a MCSD before... BUT, if you are looking for a job it adds another line to your resume.
