This interface offers full XML 1.0 validation facilities. Its only notable deviation from the 1.0 spec comes in its handling of whitespace, which it ignores inside of markup where syntactically irrelevant. Note, though, that this deviation from the spec has nothing to do with the hotly debated issue of whitespace in actual character data (in which respect this validator follows the spec). SGML/XML and Literate Programming Introduction. This document provides a collection of references for literate programming techniques and style in the context of descriptive markup languages, e.g. , SGML, XML, DSSSL, HyTime, etc. Numerous researchers have observed that the goals of information re-use and data normalization embraced by both literate programming and SGML-based markup languages provide the basis for using the two technologies together.

SGML and Literate Programming
  • "SWEB: an SGML Tag Set for Literate Programming." By C. M. Sperberg-McQueen. Version 0.5, 25 September 1993; revised August 1994 and March 1995; revised and extended January - March 1996. Referenced by permission from the author. Abstract: "This document describes an SGML tag set for literate programming. First, markup is provided for embedding fragments of programming-language code into SGML documents in arbitrary order, to be recombined before compilation into the order required by the programming language's syntax. Next, tags are defined for identifiers, keywords, code fragments, and literal values occurring as phrase-level elements in the prose documentation. Finally, tags for indexing and for a general structure for reference documentation (alphabetical lists of functions and identifiers, etc.) are defined. For each type of markup, the document gives examples and describes how the markup should be processed by conventional literate-programming

http://xml.resource.org/public/rfc/xml/rfc2119.xml
Harvard University 1350 Mass. Ave. Cambridge MA 02138 sob@harvard.edu General keyword In many standards track documents several words are used to signify the requirements in the specification. These words are often capitalized. This document defines these words as they should be interpreted in IETF documents. Authors who follow these guidelines should incorporate this phrase near the beginning of their document: The key words "MUST", "MUST NOT", "REQUIRED", "SHALL", "SHALL NOT", "SHOULD", "SHOULD NOT", "RECOMMENDED", "MAY", and "OPTIONAL" in this document are to be interpreted as described in RFC 2119. Note that the force of these words is modified by the requirement level of the document in which they are used. This word, or the terms "REQUIRED" or "SHALL", mean that the definition is an absolute requirement of the specification. This phrase, or the phrase "SHALL NOT", mean that the definition is an absolute prohibition of the specification.

As you might already know, there is no way to create the XML Comments file or compiled help files from any .NET language other than C# and J#. This application will allow any .NET language to create the same XML Comment file that C# and J# creates. By using this application, you will be able to give your applications full Intellisense abilities. C# and J# are the only languages that have built in support in the compiler to create the XML Comment file used by VS.NET for Intellisense information. XML Comments Creator brings the rest of the .NET languages to the same level by allowing them to create a correctly formatted comment file. All the features of the C# and J# comments, including validation, has been included in this application. Please see the documentation for a complete demonstration of the abilities of this application.
