Seine musikalische Laufbahn begann er als Orchestermusiker in Barmen-Elberfeld (heute Wuppertal ). Danach wurde er Milit¤r- Kapellmeister der k.u.k. Armee . In Wien spielte er in der Kapelle seines Vaters und ¼ber verschiedene stationen in der Monarchie arbeitete er sich vor bis zum nachfolger seines Vaters. Diese Karriere f¼hrte ihn nach Pola Triest Budapest und von 1899 bis 1902 nach Wien .
