Roland de Lassus Orlando di Lasso Orlande de Lassus Ce site est dédié à Roland de Lassus Il offre la possibilité à tous les chefs de chœur et à leurs choristes, et à tous ceux qui étudient le contrepoint pratiqué à la fin du XVI siècle, d'acquérir les partitions des oeuvres rééditées par Sandberger et Haberl à partir de 1894. Ces partitions sont présentées, soit dans leurs clés originales, soit dans les clés modernes. Elles peuvent être transposées, et disposées en regroupant les mesures de façon inégales. Des fichiers midi sont disponibles pour chaque partition. Les motets de l'édition sur laquelle nous nous sommes basés, ont pour source le Magnum Opus Musicus. Certains d'entre eux présentent le défaut d'avoir des textes modifiés parce que jugés "inconvenants" par la contre-réforme. Notre travail commencé en 1995 à la suite d'une année d'étude du contrepoint, n'avait pas d'autres source. To see current classroom websites, visit the KES Classroom Projects Page Orlando di Lasso Also known as Roland de Lassus, Orlando di Lasso is considered by many the most important composer of the 16th century. He was born in Mons, Belgium, around 1532 -nobody knows exactly- and belonged to the Franco-Flemish school of composers. Although Lasso received a knighthood from Emperor Maximillian, the Order of the Golden Spur from Pope Gregory XII, the Cross of Malta from the king of France, who became acquainted with Ronsard, the artist, while at the French court, and who was so talented and widely acclaimed, died insane of melancholia. The important feature about Lasso's music is that, rather than piecing together liturgy, his song texts were connected to form a logical unit, which was an unusual technique for the time and musical genre. Because of this wonderful musical skill, he earned the names of "Orpheus de Belgique," and "Principe della Musica." One hundred and fifty of his French Chansons and a much smaller number of German Lieder include settings of Petrarch, Ariosto, Ronsard, and Marot (the artists). Lasso was fluent in any style of his time: Villanella, Chanson (French part -songs), Motet, Madrigal, Lied (German part -songs), Hymns, and Lamentations. Lasso wrote sad songs of love, songs of the joys of life or satires. He also wrote a lot of sacred music, especially while he was employed by the Duke of Bavaria.

Lasso's music was published extensively during his lifetime (a mark of his stature in that first century of printing) and left more than 2,000 compositions. Lasso was born in Mons (now in Belgium). A professional choirboy as a child, tradition has it that he was kidnapped three times because of his beautiful voice. At the age of 12, he entered the musical establishment of the viceroy of Sicily. He stayed in Italy about ten years, working in Milan, Naples, and Rome, before returning north to Antwerp in 1554. From 1556 he was employed in Munich by Albert V, Duke of Bavaria, who ennobled him in 1570.
