Né à Châtellerault en 1485 Mort à Paris en 1558 lément Janequin apparaît comme le maître de la chanson polyphonique au XVIe siècle. Clerc, il a été plus original dans le domaine de la musique profane que dans celui de la musique sacrée. Son nom demeure attaché aux Amours de Ronsard, à quelques poèmes de François Ier qu'il illustre musicalement, comme il célèbre les campagnes de François de Guise dont il était le chapelain. Mais son domaine propre est la chanson descriptive où il excelle. Elle lui vaut une renommée européenne dont la France à sa mort ne s'était pas encore aperçue. Biographie: Né à Châtellerault, Clément Janequin, présume-t-on, reçoit sa première formation musicale dans la maîtrise de cette ville. Selon Ronsard, il aurait été disciple de Josquin des Prés Il s'établit dès 1505 dans les environs de Bordeaux, au service de Lancelot du Fau, président des enquêtes au Parlement, vicaire général de l'archevêché, puis évêque de Luçon en 1515. A sa mort en 1523, l'archevêque de Bordeaux, Jean de Foix, recueille le jeune Janequin qui avait entre-temps achevé des études qui lui ouvraient l'accès aux ordres. Chanoine de Saint-Emilion en 1525, il a, jusqu'en 1531, plusieurs prébendes de la région bordelaise. Sa renommée grandit assez rapidement puisque, en 1529, l'éditeur parisien Pierre Attaingnant commence à publier ses oeuvres, dont les premières chansons descriptives, qui allaient connaître un succès européen.
