Palle (Italian for "balls") is a reference to the coat-of arms of the Medici family, his employers at the time. Heinrich Isaac (also known as Ysaac Henricus Arrigo d'Ugo , and Arrigo il Tedesco Tedesco meaning "Flemish" or "German" in Italian) (around March 26 ) was a Franco-Flemish composer of the Renaissance , of south Netherlandish origin. He is regarded as one of the most significant contemporaries of Josquin des Prez , and had an especially large influence on the subsequent development of music in Germany. He was first claimed for Germany by Glarean who dubbed him "Henricus Isaac Germanus" but in his will he calls himself "Ugonis de Flandria"; Milanese [Revista critica della literatura italiana June 1886] speculated that this 'Hugo' might be connected to 'Huygens' and discovered the name "Isaacke" in the town archives of Bruges

Biography
While Josquin Desprez is unquestionably the major figure of the middle Renaissance period, there are many other outstanding names that deserve attention. Above all, the music of Heinrich Isaac another exceptionally versatile composer of the Franco-Flemish school stands out from this particularly rich period of musical composition. Born some ten years after Josquin , Isaac (ca. 1450-1517) is likewise a composer whose early life remains obscure. After 1480 he is known to have been in Florence in the service of Lorenzo the Magnificent, a member of the powerful ruling Medici family; Lorenzo was responsible for Isaac's appointment as organist of the cathedral. Following the fall of the Medicis in 1497, he was appointed court composer to the Emperor Maximilian I in Vienna and Innsbruck, but his heart remained in Florence, to where he made frequent return journeys before finally settling there three years before his death in 1517. Depending on which authority one consults, Isaac is said to have composed anything between ten and thirty masses, a discrepancy that significantly illustrates just how little attention has so far been devoted to this aspect of his work. In contrast to those of most of his contemporaries, many of Isaac's sacred works employ a rich six-part palette, a format he adopted in the Missa de Apostolis. This is one of the masses composed during Isaac's service at Maximilian's court, and, in common with Austrian practice at the time, it omits a polyphonic setting of the Credo, and alternates polyphony with plainsong in the remaining sections of the Ordinary. Despite such telescoping it is an expansive work, amply demonstrating the composer's love of contrasting sonorities, long melodic lines, and when compared with

Flemish composer. He spent much of his career in Italy, especially Florence, but was known as a leading representative of the Netherlandish style. As court composer to Emperor Maximilian I (from 1497), he was allowed to travel. He had many students, including Ludwig Senfl, and his historical importance in Germany is as the main disseminator of the progressive Northern style there. The beauty and quality of his works, which include over 100 masses, dozens of motet s, and secular songs, have led some to regard him as second only to Josquin des Prez among his contemporaries. document.writeln(AAMB2); More on "Heinrich Isaac" from Britannica Concise Webern, Anton (Friedrich Wilhelm von) - Austrian composer. It was compiled by Jacob Braun, the Nikolaifeld district mayor. The file was begun in November 7, 1872 and was completed August 17, 1873. The document provides the names and ages of a total of 446 people who were listed in the 1858 Chortitza Colony Census. The following is a breakdown by village of total number of residents listed in this document: Nikolaifeld, 89 people
Franzfeld, 76 people

I've discovered a fair amount of music by downloading MIDI files from the net. You'll find here some files that I've made up by myself, and often transcribed from facsimiles. These latter ones will be mentionned with fs followed by an indication of their source : Antico Motetti novi... , double canons from a booklet published in Venice, in year

You may use freely these files AFAIK. Of course it would be fair to mention the person who made them (Alain Naigeon), or to put a link to this page. You may broadcast or publish these files, even in the case you'd have modified them, but then please do mention any modification and be sure to put a link to their original version on this page. Thanks!
Recently I felt some interest in mp3 files, that I'll however make available in a few cases only, for some reasons given on the page

Heinrich [Henricus] Isaac [Ysaac, Isaak], [Arrigo il Tedesco]
(c.1445-1517)
Franco-Flemish composer. Although the majority of his professional life was spent in Italy, particularly Florence, his influence was greatest in Germanic lands, where he lived intermittently from 1497, when he became court Composer to Maximilian I. Of his students, the most notable was Ludwig Senfl His long association with Italy began when he entered the service of the Medici in Florence around 1485 as a singer in the Cantori di S. Giovanni, a group that supplied polyphonic music for the cathedral and other local churches. His work for Maximilian I, from 1497 until his death, did not require continuous residence at the court but allowed stays of considerable length in various German cities, in northern Italy, and in Florence. Nevertheless, his position as imperial court composer and the many pieces he wrote for the Hofkapelle brought the Netherlandish style of music to German-speaking areas. Among his works are about 40 Mass Ordinaries, half cyclic (in the Netherlandish tradition), half based on liturgically appropriate plainsong melodies (in the German tradition); almost 100 cycles of the Proper of the Mass (following Germanic liturgical custom; most published posthumously in the 3-volume Choralis constantinus ); over fifty independent motets; and nearly 100 secular songs, including French chansons, a few Italian

He wrote seventeen mass cycles in typical Franco-Flemish style, as well as nineteen cycles based directly on plainchant and intended for alternation with chant or organ. The latter were apparently intended for the German tradition, for which he also wrote the massive Choralis Constantinus Choralis Constantinus is a cycle of polyphonic Propers for the entire liturgical year, based on the appropriate chants. Although he was not able to complete it, Isaac's cycle was one of the largest to date, and probably his most influential work. He also wrote over fifty motets, in a variety of styles: more technical Franco-Flemish pieces such as Virgo prudentissima in six parts, chant-based settings comparable to his Propers settings, and lighter settings based on Italian styles. He left thirteen independent Credos. Isaac's secular and instrumental works consist of nearly one hundred pieces in French, Dutch, German, Italian, or without texts. He left one of the largest early outputs of original instrumental music, a legacy further supplemented by the many instrumental adaptations of short sections of his masses.
