The rowing team led the way with a 3.28 GPA and 41 honor roll members in the fall semester Clemson Student-Athletes Record 2.82 GPA For Fall Semester Rowing leads the way with a 3.28 GPA Feb. 24, 2004 Clemson's nearly 500 student-athletes had a collective GPA of 2.82 for the fall semester according to data released by the student-athlete enrichment office. The 2.82 overall GPA was the highest on record for a fall semester, and the third highest figure overall. A total of 222 student-athletes earned a 3.0 of better, including a near record 104 student-athletes who were on the Dean's List. The record for Dean's List students in a semester is 105 set in the fall of 2001. It marked the fifth straight semester at least 100 student-athletes were on the Dean's List. There were 34 student-athletes on the President's List (perfect 4.0). The Clemson rowing team had the top team GPA at 3.28, and had a department best 41 student-athletes named to the academic honor roll. The women's swimming and diving team had the second best team GPA with a 3.20 and 26 team members made the academic honor roll, second best in the department. That tied the team record for academic honor roll selections in a semester for that program.

About the Lectures
The Page-Barbour Lectures were founded in 1907 by Mrs. Thomas Nelson Page. The lectures, which may be in any field in the arts and sciences, are to present "some fresh aspect or aspects of the department of thought" in which the lecturer is a specialist, and are to possess such unity as to be published in book form by the University. Past Page-Barbour Lecturers include President and Chief Justice William Howard Taft; poets T.S. Eliot and W.H. Auden; philosophers Walter Lippman and John Dewey; and psychologists B.F. Skinner and Robert Coles.

Instrumental variable methods for closed loop system identification
Automatica Volume 41, Issue 2 February 2005 Pages 241-249
Marion Gilson and Paul Van den Hof
Abstract
In this paper, several instrumental variable (IV) and instrumental variable-related methods for closed-loop system identification are considered and set in an extended IV framework. Extended IV methods require the appropriate choice of particular design variables, as the number and type of instrumental signals, data prefiltering and the choice of an appropriate norm of the extended IV-criterion. The optimal IV estimator achieves minimum variance, but requires the exact knowledge of the noise model. For the closed-loop situation several IV methods are put in an extended IV framework and characterized by different choices of design variables. Their variance properties are considered and illustrated with a simulation example.
