Geburtstag: http://www.fmf.ch ) meldet: Leben und Werk: Nach ihrem Tod vergaß man sie, bis sich die neue Frauenbewegung wieder auf sie besann. Derzeit wird an der Universität Oldenburg im Rahmen eines großangelegten Forschungsprojekts unter der Leitung von Prof. Freia Hoffmann eine mehrbändige Ausgabe der Werke Louise Farrencs herausgegeben. Ihre erste und dritte Sinfonie wurden aufgrund dieser Vorarbeiten vom Radio-Philharmonie–Orchester Hannover des NDR bereits auf CD eingespielt. Ihre Werke sind bis ins Detail thematisch ausgearbeitet, formal überzeugend und voller melodischer Einfälle. Farrenc stützt sich auf die Tradition der Wiener Klassik, die sie mit farbiger Instrumentation und harmonisch-romantischem Gestus zielstrebig weiterentwickelt. Neither had any knowledge of the other's project and how the two of them were connected. Catherine Keen, a clarinet student began independent study research on the famous composer Louise Farrenc last school year after studying her in a Women in Music History class. "She just struck me as interesting and fascinating," Keen said of the composer. Also in January of 2006, the director of the music library, Sarah Dorsey, began her sabbatical at the Library of Congress. She commenced organizing the musical scores and papers of the composer Louise Talma. "There were three different collections to choose from. She chose me, I didn't choose her," explains Dorsey. After becoming familiar with Talma's work she fell in love with it. She became obsessed with Talma as a musician and as a person and plans to write a book about her work and her life.
