The composer Antonín Dvoøák (1841-1904) is the Czech nation's best known personality.
His work has generated keen interest both at home and world-wide for over a century. The Czech nation is proud of having a personality whose music is heard both at home and abroad.
The date the 1st of May commemorates not only a hundred years from his death but by a lucky coincidence it is the date of the accession of the Czech Republic to the European Union. Dvoøák's music will be the best message from the Czech nation sent to the world at this historical moment.

82. Antonín Dvorák : A Worklist
Without the books Antonín Dvorák Musician Craftsman and Dvorák written by Dr. John Clapham, I would never have started this thorough work on Dvorák,

8 September 1841 - 1 May 1904 List of Works Frames Version Very important in cataloguing Dvorák works was and is Jarmil Burghauser. He did important biographical surveys and numbered Dvorák's works in chronological order. In 1996 the second edition of Burghauser's Thematic Catalogue was issued and I have tried to make these webpages consistent with this edition. Some new numbers have found their way into this catalogue: B16bis, a serenade for flute, triangle and two strings and some opera overtures have been given their own B-number, the number of the opera + "a". Some works have other opus numbers put in brackets after the name. Those are the numbers Dvorák gave them himself. He had a contract with the Berlin publisher Simrock, who was afraid that low opus numbers would not sell. Older work handed in by Dvorák was given a higher opus number by Simrock, which was next in line after the last published work.
Without the books "Antonín Dvorák - Musician & Craftsman" and "Dvorák" written by Dr. John Clapham, I would never have started this thorough work on Dvorák, so I owe him most dearest thanks. I also have to thank Peter Herbert, whose "Antonín Dvorák, Complete Catalogue of Works" (3rd Edition) has been a great help in checking my work for errors and insights in the works themselves.
