Summer Program in Molecular Biosciences The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, with financial support from the National Science Foundation, offers qualified undergraduates from throughout the country the opportunity to conduct research projects in biochemistry and molecular biology for ten weeks each summer. This program allows students to participate in active research in a wide range of areas, including protein structure and function, transcriptional mechanisms, molecular neurobiology, regulation of gene expression in a chromatin context, cancer biology, plant biology, embryonic development, diabetes, cytoskeleton dynamics, and virology. Each student is assigned to a specific faculty member's research laboratory, where the student works closely with the faculty mentor, post-doctoral associates and graduate students. In addition to the research program, students also participate in a variety of seminars, weekly meetings, and social functions.

These papers cover a range of disciplines from molecular and cellular physiology and biochemistry through whole plant physiology to community physiology. Every issue of the Journal contains at least one 'Perspective' article. These are most commonly reviews of research areas, which are particularly exciting and important, topical or controversial. Opinion articles are also considered. In addition to 12 regular issues, at least one Special Issue is published each year. These are collection of articles derived from a specialised meeting or conference session. All papers are fully reviewed, and we will endeavour to complete the review process with all speed. Are you interested in exchanging ideas on HOW to create stimulating lessons, using interactive direct teaching with a strong laboratory component? Are you interested in the results of a process approach, using HOW and WHY? Example Topic :
  • How is a neuron so unique in its handling of ions? How could Homeotic genes be useful in Phylogenetic studies? How important has paedomorphosis been in chordate evolution? How have hormone amino acid sequences evolved among various species?

    http://www.case.edu/med/biochemistry/home.html
B iochemistry is the study of the molecular basis of cellular function. It has evolved into the common language for translating the advances of molecular genetics into cellular and chemical terms. Biochemists study a broad range of cellular functions from gene transcription to the structure and function of macromolecules.
The CWRU Biochemistry Department is located in the School of Medicine. The Department offers programs of study leading to the BA, BS, MS, PhD and MD/PhD degrees. The Department is an active center of biochemical research and offers comprehensive and flexible training, due to the broad research experience of its faculty. View our online brochure . The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
The Russell Grimwade School of Biochemistry, now the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, was officially opened in 1961.
While the areas of administration and teaching continue at this site toward the southwestern corner of the University campus, most of the departmental research is now undertaken nearby at the newly-built Bio21 Institute on Flemington Road.
The facilities at the Bio21 Institute support world-class research and foster cross-disciplinary interaction, benefiting academic staff, visiting scientists, and undergraduate and postgraduate students alike.
