Most recently Jacob portrayed Rick Forrester on "The Bold and the Beautiful," during which time he received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Younger Lead Actor. He can also be seen in a featured role in the ABC movie for television, "Beach Boys: An All American Family."
Growing up in Washington State, Jacob began to showcase his talent in leading roles of stage productions of "Guys and Dolls," "Grease," "The Wizard of Oz" and "Our Town."
Spare time for Jacob is quite scarce these days, as he is about to release his debut album, "Devil's in the Details." When not acting or singing, Jacob can be found doing just about anything athletic, from skateboarding to surfing. Jacob lives in the Los Angeles area.

Once when the father was going out to plough, the little one said, "Father, I will go out with thee." "Thou wouldst go out with me?" said the father. "Stay here, thou wilt be of no use out there, besides thou mightst get lost!" Then Thumbling began to cry, and for the sake of peace his father put him in his pocket, and took him with him. When he was outside in the field, he took him out again, and set him in a freshly-cut furrow. While he was there, a great giant came over the hill. "Dost thou see that great monster?" said the father, for he wanted to frighten the little fellow to make him good. "He is coming to fetch thee." The giant, however, had scarcely taken two steps with his long legs before he was in the furrow. He took up little Thumbling carefully with two fingers, examined him, and without saying one word went away with him. His father stood by, but could not utter a sound for terror, and he thought nothing else but that his child was lost, and that as long as he lived he should never set eyes on him again.

Young, Jacob and Family
by Grace (Young) Frank My parent, Jacob and Katherine Young, arrived in Canada in July 1914 from Austria and settled in Estevan with my broth Tony age 6 and I, Grace, age 4. We crossed the Atlantic in an American ship, landed in Boston, Mass. and took the train to Winnipeg, Manitoba, then on to Lampman, Sask. where we had relatives. My parents recalled that a it was a very hot, dusty day and they were so suprised at the huge expanse of the prairies and the large farms. In Austria the scenery was so different, the Austian Alps, the vineyards, and the small farms. We stayed with relatives untill harvest was over and in October 1914 we moved to Estevan.

Jacob is fond of all sports, especially basketball. He also plays the alto saxophone in a jazz band and enjoys camping, river rafting, skiing, and launching model rockets. He'd like to pursue a career in computer science. "I enjoy programming, and from watching my father, it seems to be a really fun job," he says.
Jacob says his mentor is Roxanne Hunker, "my fabulous science teacher for four years, because her enthusiasm for science is contagious."
From sites of 30, 60, 75, and 124 kilometers from the urban center of San Diego County, Jacob took 120 photographs of the zenith on nights of similar weather and moonlight conditions between August 2002 and January 2003. He developed and scanned the images into more than 500 computerized bitmap files. Then he wrote a computer program to convert the bitmap files into pixel arrays with pixel intensity values ranging from to 765. He averaged, graphed, and compared the intensity intervals to mathematically correlate the change in intensity (brightness) as a function of the site's distance from the urban center. Jacob concluded that the observable, visible light from stars remains below 50 percent until nearly 35 kilometers from the urban center and does not improve to 90 percent visibility until more than 70 kilometers away. Thus, there is a serious threat to the astronomical observations at the Mt. Laguna and Palomar observatories.

Jewel discusses her career and her art with Jay S. Jacobs of popentertainment.com.

It's all the entertainment you need! FEATURE STORIES MOVIE REVIEWS MUSIC REVIEWS BOX SET REVIEWS ... AVAILABLE IN BOOK STORES EVERYWHERE! J ewel Portrait of a Young Artist by Jay S. Jacobs POPENTERTAINMENT.COM Archives- We spoke with superstar Jewel Kilcher in June 1996, just as her first album Pieces of You was starting to explode. It's a Sunday afternoon at the Theatre of Living Arts in Philadelphia. Employees are rushing around setting up for this evening's show. This is the first Philadelphia headlining performance for 21-year-old Alaskan folk singer Jewel Kilcher or just plain Jewel, as her friends, family and fans call her. Through the closed doors of the theatre waft the sounds Jewel's band practicing. In the bar area are a group of local rock journalists. That's a scary sight at any time, made particularly daunting by the fact that they are catching an artist on the cusp of the wave of her career. Jewel walks into the bar smiling, looking comfortable in a pair of jeans and a white top. Looking much more blonde than you would expect from someone from the tundra state (due to Swiss descent,) she smiles and greets the throngs of press. Obviously, even at her young age, she's getting used to all the attention. As you talk to her, Jewel radiates a true happiness and trust of human nature the type that could get annoying if not for the obvious strength and passion Jewel puts in these beliefs. Born to musical parents Jewel's dad was a well-known local pub singer and mom a music teacher she took up music early. Playing with her dad and band as a young child, Jewel grew up on stage. As a teenager, Jewel decided to move to the mainland, ending up in San Diego. There she waitressed, wrote poetry and songs, surfed, played local coffeehouses and lived in the back of her '79 V.W. Van.

109. Anna Nalick Interview
The young singer talks to Jay S. Jacobs about her debut album Wreck of the Day, vaudeville, Rainbow Brite and her coffee addiction.

It's all the entertainment you need! FEATURE STORIES MOVIE REVIEWS MUSIC REVIEWS BOX SET REVIEWS ... AVAILABLE IN BOOK STORES EVERYWHERE! Anna Nalick Breathtaking by Jay S. Jacobs You can thank Anna Nalick's grandparents. They may not be responsible for the talent that the surprisingly mature young singer/songwriter shows on her gorgeous debut album Wreck of the Day , but they helped to plant the seed. Nalick grew up hearing show biz tales from her grandparents, who were stage performers in the early 1900s. While they were never stars, Anna's grandmother worked with the likes of Fred Astaire and the Marx Brothers. So even as a young girl, Nalick was seduced by the power of performing, the power of the stage. As she grew older, Nalick realized that music was the outlet to reach this dream. Nalick made some very lo-tech demos on a girlhood toy tape recorder. The sound quality wasn't pristine, but it did capture the ears of some producers. Christopher Thorn and Brad Smith (surviving members of 90s rock band Blind Melon, who had a huge hit with the song "No Rain") and Eric Rosse (who co-produced ex-girlfriend Tori Amos' first two solo albums and more recently worked on Lisa Marie Presley's debut) liked what they heard and got Nalick into the studio to record some demos. These turned out to be so good that major labels soon started circling. Nalick signed up with Columbia Records and started working on her debut CD with a respected group of studio musicians including Smith, Thorn, Rosse, Zak Rae (Alanis Morissette, Macy Gray), Lyle Workman (Sheryl Crow, They Might Be Giants), Stuart Mathis (Jewel), Joey Waronker (Johnny Cash, Beck) and Matt Chamberlain (Tori Amos, John Mayer.)
