Young, Jacob and Family by Grace (Young) Frank My parent, Jacob and Katherine Young, arrived in Canada in July 1914 from Austria and settled in Estevan with my broth Tony age 6 and I, Grace, age 4. We crossed the Atlantic in an American ship, landed in Boston, Mass. and took the train to Winnipeg, Manitoba, then on to Lampman, Sask. where we had relatives. My parents recalled that a it was a very hot, dusty day and they were so suprised at the huge expanse of the prairies and the large farms. In Austria the scenery was so different, the Austian Alps, the vineyards, and the small farms. We stayed with relatives untill harvest was over and in October 1914 we moved to Estevan.
