Welcome to

This site is dedicated to the wonderful 1971 movie Melody
and its lead actress Tracy Hyde. Melody also starred Jack Wild and
Mark Lester with a soundtrack by the Bee Gees.
Melody aka swalk
I first saw the movie Melody back in 1971 when I was 13 years old. It blew me away! I lived about ten miles from where the film was shot, went to a similar school and wore a similar school uniform. It was a movie about kids 'just like me!'
Melody starred Jack Wild and Mark Lester who were already famous from their roles in Oliver. The movie also starred a beautiful girl named Tracy Hyde. Along with teenaged boys everywhere I immediately fell madly in love with her. Over the years I never forgot about "Melody Perkins" and I often wondered what ever became of her. I searched high and low for a copy of the movie without success. Then along came the internet and slowly but surely I began to put the pieces together. Not only did I find a video of Melody, I was also able to find Tracy Hyde and contact her. I was also able to contact Mark Lester.
It's definitely a work in progress so check back often.

The Call of the Wild by Jack London
Chapters: Chapter 1 - Into the Primitive "Old longings nomadic leap,
Chafing at custom's chain;
Again from its brumal sleep
Wakens the ferine strain." Buck did not read the newspapers, or he would have known that trouble was brewing, not alone for himself, but for every tide- water dog, strong of muscle and with warm, long hair, from Puget Sound to San Diego. Because men, groping in the Arctic darkness, had found a yellow metal, and because steamship and transportation companies were booming the find, thousands of men were rushing into the Northland. These men wanted dogs, and the dogs they wanted were heavy dogs, with strong muscles by which to toil, and furry coats to protect them from the frost. Buck lived at a big house in the sun-kissed Santa Clara Valley. Judge Miller's place, it was called. It stood back from the road, half hidden among the trees, through which glimpses could be caught of the wide cool veranda that ran around its four sides. The house was approached by gravelled driveways which wound about through wide-spreading lawns and under the interlacing boughs of tall poplars. At the rear things were on even a more spacious scale than at the front. There were great stables, where a dozen grooms and boys held forth, rows of vine-clad servants' cottages, an endless and orderly array of outhouses, long grape arbors, green pastures, orchards, and berry patches. Then there was the pumping plant for the artesian well, and the big cement tank where Judge Miller's boys took their morning plunge and kept cool in the hot afternoon.

The Texas Jack Association is a non-profit organization that commemorates John B. "Texas Jack" Omohundro, cowboy, prairie scout, western hunting guide, Wild West showman, and partner of W. F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody and James B. "Wild Bill" Hickok. In his day, Texas Jack was a nationally known figure, however he is largely unknown today because he died at the young age of 33. The Texas Jack Association exists to rectify this situation, perpetuate the memory of the "forgotten scout," and see that he gets his deserved place in history. LOS ANGELES, California (AP) Jack Elam, a character actor and favorite Western villain who menaced good-guy cowboys with his crazy grin, wild eyes and remorseless gunslinging in films such as "Rawhide" and "Wichita," has died, a family friend said Tuesday. Elam, who had been in declining health in recent years, died Monday afternoon at his home in Ashland, Oregon, of unspecified illness, according to longtime friend Al Hassan. Most biographies list the actor as 86 years old, but Hassan said he was actually 84, having lied about his age as a youngster to get work. "He was cantankerous in a great way, in a funny way," Hassan said. "He smoked, drank, all that stuff. He lived one of the best lives I've ever seen." Elam worked as a Hollywood accountant in the 1940s and had bit parts, usually uncredited, in the films "Trailin' West" (1949), "Quicksand" (1950) and "One Way Street" (1950).

Founded in 1994 by Tom St. Germain, our first brew was Bar Harbor Gold - it took 4 consecutive daily attempts to fire up the brewery, until we finally spent 17 hours brewing our first batch (a quarter batch of beer).
Today, it takes 6.5 to 7.5 hours to brew a compete batch.
Our Tap Room opened on May 19, 1995.
MCBC is located in our brand new building on route 3 in Bar Harbor and is celebrating our grand re-opening in June 2002! MCBC is a traditional English-style brewery where we mash at a single temperature. The brew kettle is bricked in with a whirlpool on the bottom. We use open fermenters with a top-fermenting ale yeast.
Our beer is transferred to our conditioning tanks where each batch goes through three additional tanks as the beer cools, gets fined (clarified), and is then carbonated in-line. From the last tank, finished beer is either bottled, kegged, or put into ‘Growlers.’
Brews Flagships:
available in 12 ounce bottles. Also on draft at various locations
Maine Coast Black Irish Stout™
- strong, double-dry stout. 6% ABV. Double the strength of our regular dry stout. A pronounced roasted bitterness. Stout lovers rejoice!

The Call of the Wild by Henry Veggian I. Preface The Call of the Wild (1903). The essay is limited to the novel’s reception in modern American letters; it concludes with an extensive though by no means comprehensive bibliography of the newspaper reviews, biographical studies, scholarly articles, book-length studies, bibliographical sources, dissertations, and introductory essays relevant to the history of that novel. The Call of the Wild is one of the most widely translated and published books by an American writer, and a proper, comprehensive bibliography of The Call of the Wild would require a tremendous international research effort; the following essay is offered in the absence of such a project as a temporary surrogate for the important literary-historical, critical arguments that have engaged the novel in the one hundred years since it was first published. PMLA article that "It is well known that a heated controversy took place during the eighteen-nineties over the inclusion of fact, brutal fact, in fiction." But what are the brutal facts that might begin a proper genealogy of The Call of the Wild ? For example

Grand Flush For a Grand Canyon Byline: COMBINED NEWS SERVICES PAGE, Ariz. As dawn's light filtered into the sandstone gorge 600 feet below the lip of Glen Canyon Dam, a cannonade of water blasted out across the Colorado River, a cheer went up and the first attempt to rejuvenate the Grand Canyon by flooding it was under way. U.S. Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt, who pushed the button that triggered the gusher Tuesday, hailed the occasion as the beginning of ``a new era in the way we live on the American landscape.'' It was the first time that the federal government has opened the floodgates on one of its own dams to repair some of the damage done to river canyons that have been denied their natural flow for many years.
