biography
Born William Anderson in Washington in September 1928, actor Adam West has had a nearly 50-year career in films and television. He majored in literature at Whitman College before his induction into the Army in the early 1950s. Upon his discharge, West worked in local radio and television, moving to Hawaii in the mid 1950s to work on a live-action children's show. Relocating to Los Angeles with his wife and family in the late 1950s, West found work in television commercials and landed a contract with Warner Bros. Soon, he was doing guest spots on popular television programs such as 77 Sunset Strip Cheyenne , and Sugarfoot , all produced by Warner Bros. The studio also put the handsome actor in a couple of films, including The Young Philidelphians (1959; with Barbara Rush and Anthony Eisley ), but the studio dropped his contract soon afterward.

Lyman Wight's second cabin in the valley of Adam-ondi-Ahman in northwest Missouri, a Latter-day Saint settlement from 1836 to 1838. by Lamar C. Berrett Adam-ondi-Ahman, a settlement in Daviess County, Missouri, received its unusual name from the Prophet Joseph Smith in 1838 when Latter-day Saints were moving into the area. Members of the Church had been forced out of Jackson County, Missouri, in 1833 after three years of temporary asylum, and were subsequently asked to leave Clay County. When they appealed to the state legislature to make a new county "for Mormons," Caldwell and Daviess counties were organized. The Saints immediately moved into Caldwell County with Far West as the county seat, and soon also began settling in adjoining Daviess County. In May 1838 Joseph Smith led surveyors to a horseshoe bend of the Grand River, seventy miles north of present-day Kansas City, and proclaimed a new community, which he named Adam-ondi-Ahman because, said he, "it is the place where Adam shall come to visit his people, or the Ancient of Days shall sit, as spoken of by Daniel the Prophet" (HC 3:35; D&C 116). Orson Pratt interpreted the name to mean "Valley of God, where Adam dwelt" (JD 18:343).

West's campy, paunchy image." While we can't exactly fault Mr. Hogan's memory of the Adam West version of the caped crusader, we did feel it was useful to offer another perspective on Mr. West himself. The image above is undoubtedly from his pre-Batman career, which included appearances in such films as The Young Philadelphians Tammy and the Doctor (1963), and of course the cult classic Robinson Crusoe on Mars
Since a number of actors like Gary Conway Glenn Corbett , and even Don Johnson , used to turn up occasionally in "skin" magazines, we are now wondering if Mr. West perhaps had a pre-cinema career as a model.

So my PowerBook has basically turned into a slow old woman. Everything I do takes at least a couple seconds to process, and when it comes to doing two things at once, it's hardly possible. If I'm launching PS and try to switch songs in iTunes, I get the rainbow spinner for about 5 to 10 seconds, after which point screens jump all over the place from my aggravated clicking. I think this is somewhat to blame for my lack of posts - it's a pain in my ass to open iPhoto, PS, Transmit, and Safari.

1. Repair permissions - that usually solves this kind of problem
2. Do a boot disk repair (you need to boot into single-user mode for that)
