Z Thomas Scott Preston The Vicar-General of New York, prothonotary Apostolic, chancellor, distinguished convert, author, preacher, and administrator born at Hartford, Connecticut, 23 July, 1824; died at New York, 4 Nov., 1891. From his youth he was serious, pious, and zealous. He studied in the Episcopalian general seminary, located at Ninth Avenue and Twentieth Street, New York, where he was recognized as the leader of the High Church party. In 1846 he received deacon's orders, and served in this capacity at Trinity Church, the Church of the Annunciation in West Fourteenth Street, and at Holy Innocents, West Point. In 1847 he was ordained presbyter by Bishop Delancey of Western New York, his own bishop having refused to advance him to this order on account of his ritualistic views. He believed himself now a validly ordained priest of the English branch Lenten conferences attracted multitudes from all parts of the city. His works are: "Reason and Revelation" (New York, 1868); "The Divine Paraclete" (1879); "Ark of the Covenant" (1860) "The Divine Sanctuary" (1887); "Gethsemani (1887); "The Sacred Year" (1885); "Vicar of Christ" (1878); "The Protestant Reformation" (1879); "Protestantism and the Church" (1882); "Protestantism and the Bible" (1888); "Christian Unity" (1881); "The Watch on Calvary" (1885) "Christ and the Church" (1870); "God and Reason" (1884); "Devotion to the Sacred Heart". On January 23, John Schultz managed to escape as well. On February 12, Riel freed the other prisoners on the condition that they not interfere with the politics in the Settlement. This initiative cooled the ardour of many, but the "Canadian" party continued its march on Fort Garry. On February 18, Major Charles Boulton and his men, passing near the Fort, were arrested by Riel's men, 48 were captured, including Thomas Scott. Major Boulton was tried and sentenced to death, but the sentence was never carried out. After causing problems and attempting to escape, Thomas Scott was summoned to appear before a Métis court martial formed in accordance with the custom of the buffalo hunt and presided over by Ambroise Lépine, Louis Riel's lieutenant. The seven members of the court found him guilty of defying the authority of the Provisional Government, of fighting with the guards and insulting the President. He was sentenced to death by a vote of five to two and the next day, March 4, 1870, he was executed by a firing squad. Although pressure was brought to bear on Riel to prevent the execution, he refused to be swayed. We can only wonder what motives prompted Riel to allow Scott's execution.

Thomas Scott Davidson This page is dedicated to the memory of our son, Scott. Click on any of the highlighted words to find further information on that subject as you read this page. Scott was born at Harris Methodist Hospita l in Bedford, Texas on March 18, 2003 at 8:55 pm to Darlene and Troy Davidson. He weighed only 5.9 ounces, and was at that moment both the greatest joy, and the greatest sorrow that his parents have ever known. Scott was stillborn, delivered in only his 20th week due to a tragic twist of genetic fate known as anencephaly . This condition, whose cause is generally unknown, prevents portions of the skull, and sometimes the spinal cord, from developing properly, condemning its victim to inescapable death. Although his life had passed before we ever laid eyes on him, we loved our son from the moment we knew about him, and treasure each moment we had to spend with him, knowing in our hearts that he is waiting for us even now in heaven, our little angel. Knowing that our time with him would be short we tried to capture every memento of his existance that we could, and we would like to share some of them with you including some photos,
