There's something wild about Harry as 3rd Rock 's French Stewart rocks on
By Melissa J. Perenson here's always been a likable inelegance to French Stewart's hapless alien in human guise, Harry Solomonand that was the intention, according to Stewart. Though the actor is not a household name, he's instantly recognizable for his role as Harry on NBC's long-running sitcom 3rd Rock From the Sun , starring John Lithgow and Kristen Johnson. The series, which ends this month, followed the misadventures of aliens among us on Earth. We caught up with the comedic character actor on the set of this summer's sci-fi fantasy adventure Clockstoppers , which is being directed by Jonathan Frakes. In addition to starring on 3rd Rock , Stewart has appeared in numerous plays, and in such movies as Stargate, Broken Arrow and Leaving Las Vegas. After six years on 3rd Rock , was it hard letting go when it came time to film the finale? Stewart: Oh, yeah. I think everybody really felt ready, and deep in your heart, you know that probably, if you did one more season, everybody would get cranky. But still, it's been a huge part of my life, and I've got a lot of good friends there. We've had the same crew pretty much from the get-go, so you have to sort of say goodbye to 50 or 60 friends, so it's a little bit difficultbut I think it's tempered by the fact that we all know it's time.

http://www.constitution.org/rf/vr_vot.txt
Mr. John Taylor's resolutions, as amended, agreed to by the Committee, and reported to the House (ante, p. 149-50), being read the second time, a motion was made, and the question being put, to amend the same by expunging from them the fourth clause in the following words: "That the General Assembly doth also express its deep regret, that a spirit has in sundry instances been manifested by the Federal Government to enlarge its powers by forced constructions of the constitutional charter which defines them; and that indications have appeared of a design to expound certain general phrases (which having been copied from the very limited grant of powers in the former articles of confederation, were the less liable to be misconstrued) so as to destroy the meaning and effect of the particular enumeration, which necessarily explains and limits the general phrases, and so as to consolidate the states, by degrees, into one sovereignty, the obvious tendency and inevitable result of which would be to transform the present republican system of the United States into an absolute, or at best a mixed monarchy." It passed in the negative, ayes 68 noes 96. On a motion made by General Lee, seconded by Mr. Bolling, ordered, that the names of the ayes and noes on the foregoing question be inserted in the journal. Slavery derives from, is in the context of, and involves force, violence, assault, battery, extortion, detention. So, described that way, in its true nature, it is always illegal. The only reason people think 'slavery' is legal, is simply by their hearing, seeing, using, taking that one word, 'slavery,' out of that context.
Even out of context, under the "common law," since the English Magna Carta (1215), persons being detained have a right to know the charges. A person being detained, can force his being released by demanding to be informed of the charges; if not, release is instant. The process is called getting a writ of habeas corpus.
Slaves were being detained without charge. A habeas corpus case was filed, pursuant to English law allowing for a "writ of habeas corpus."
The case is James Sommerset v Charles Stewart . This site has the text of the legal papers, and court decision, by the "King's Bench," Lord Chief Justice Mansfield [1705-1793] presiding, in 1772, freeing the slaves, pursuant to the

The Hon. Charles Stewart Rolls (1877 - 1910)
Charles S. Rolls
http://www.monmouth.org.uk
The son of a wealthy British peer, Rolls might have led a carefree life often associated with the young Edwardian aristocracy. Instead, he combined an adventurous spirit with an education and thus made a useful contribution to his nation. Rolls went to Cambridge University where he earned a BA, and later MA in engineering. His love for speed led him to become a racing cyclist. Later he turned to racing automobiles along with his friend, Moore-Brabazon.
In 1896 Rolls joined with other auto enthusiasts to break a law which forbade automobile travel at over 4mph (6.4km/hr). Their defiance led to a new speed limit which at 12 mph (19.3 km/hr) was 200% faster than had previously been allowed. In 1901 Rolls, having become an aeronaut, helped found the Aero Club. Two years later he entered an automobile sales venture in London selling expensive French cars. One day a friend introduced him to F. H. Royce who was just beginning to build quality automobiles. Royce, who had worked hard his entire life, had little in common with Rolls yet they still became friends. In 1904 they agreed that Royce would build cars and Rolls would sell them. Rolls-Royce was born. Rolls continued to fly balloons when he wasn't demonstrating his soon-to-be-famous products. His balloon flying led to aeroplane flying and in 1910 he received certificate number 2 from the Royal Aero Club (Royal as of that year). Later in the same year he became the first man to fly non-stop across the English Channel both ways, but his triumph was short lived. In July 1910 he was killed when his French-built Wright biplane broke up in mid-air. Though he came down from only 20 feet, he cracked his skull. He became Britain`s first aircraft fatality.
