According to intelligence sources, she has over the years grown up to become one of the most important nodes for coordination in the BKI network. Bhupinder Kaur was married to her father's trusted lieutenant Satnam Singh aka Surender in Pakistan. At the time, BKI's operation in Germany was being supervised by an old hand, Resham Singh, who according to Jagtar Singh Hawara, the BKI chief of operations in India, is active there for the past over a decade.

History Of Patiala
Introduction F amous for ‘peg’, ‘pagri’, ‘paranda’ (tasselled tag for braiding hair and ‘Jutti’ (footwear), joyous buoyance, royal demeanor, sensuous and graceful feminine gait and Aristocracy, Patiala presents a beautiful bouquet of life-style even to a casual visitor to the city. A brilliant spectrum of Rajput, Mughal and Punjabi cultures, a fine blend of modernity and tradition and a judicious synthesis of all that is beautiful in form and bold in spirit conjure up> a vision called 'Patiala'. Patiala, an erstwhile princely state, capital of PEPSU and a district headquarters of Punjab are situated in the Malwa region of Punjab. Malwa has the largest number Of districts in the reorganised Punjab, and antiquity of some of the cities goes back to the ancient and early medieval period. Patiala is relatively a young city, a few years more than two centuries old. In the 18 th century, the political vacuum created by the downfall of the Mughals was successfully filled up by the Sikh Misldars in Punjab by thwarting the designs of both the Marathas and the Afghans. One among these independent principalities of the Sikhs was that established by Baba Ala Singh at Patiala.

Cricketing thoughts
RAMACHANDRA Guha's book A Corner of a Foreign Field (Picador India, Rs.495) is an unusual book on cricket. It is not wholly about runs, run-outs, batting and bowling. It is a socio-political history of the game as it has developed in India over the past 200 years. Guha writes, "For the social historian, mass sport is a sphere of activity that expresses, in concentrated form, the values, prejudices, divisions and unifying symbols of a society" and he goes on to say, "... the cricket field was both a theatre of imperial power and of Indian resistance. The career of Palwankar Baloo illuminates the operations of that unique (and uniquely dreadful) human institution, caste". Cricket mania is a wholly unexpected legacy of imperialism. The hold it has got on the imagination of the people of India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka is something quite extraordinary. I have digressed enough. What I intended to write was the appalling commercialisation of a great game. Young men in their early twenties have become the darlings and victims of the sponsors, who are not always motivated by the love or lure of cricket but the lucre it gets them. Then there is the all pervasive
