Welcome! If this is your first time visiting, please read the About page first. Please pay attention to the simple policies. The server is now in its last few hours! Among all the Binaural excitement, the archive must go down forever on May 14th. It has been a great four years. Thanks for all your great feedback and support! Don't forget to preorder Binaural and have it arrive on your doorstep May 16th. While you're waiting, there are some live tracks in the Binaural directory Site closing details: I am graduating on May 14th, and of course must leave this wonderful network connection that has been so graciously providing the world with some great Pearl Jam over the years. Due to the fact that I will never have a similiarly high-speed premanent connection, nor will I have the time to devote to the site, it is time to close things down. Thankfully, there are a ton of sites out there now that offer similiar collections; good collection of links is located at Dan's site . We've seen some amazing changes over the course of this web site. When I first put up my web server in 1996, there was a small underground mp3 trading community, and this site marked the first dedicated to non-album tracks of one artist. Now the music industry is moving towards capitalizing on the technology it previously fought, and mp3 sites can be found anywhere for anything. Epic is even hopping on the bandwagon, releasing Nothing As It Seems to the net even before the radio, and will offer all the albums to purchase download soon. This site has seen huge

I became a Technical Analyst with Paranet in November, 1996. Purchased in August 1997 by Sprint , the newly-renamed Sprint Paranet is a consulting company that specializes in systems, network, and business analysis, design, and re-engineering. Their aim is to develop a partnership with the client so they can make them the best in their field. They are not vendor-tied, so they can theoretically recommend the best solution for the client without being forced (contractually) to say "Sun" or "HP" or "Intel" or any specific vendor. I left Sprint Paranet in 1998. My client was ABN AMRO North America, Inc. , an international retail and trading bank. Coming from my stint at SBC, I was already familiar with a lot of the general practices of their organization, so they were really happy at not having to explain production versus development work and that information technology takes a back seat to making money and so on. I was a webmaster, did systems and network administration and planning for both hardware and software, and was doing project coordination for Internet-based web sites that they developed for their customers. As part of my projects, I wrote six (and completed five) technical manuals for them as well:

Hello,
I am trying to connect a NessusWX client, on a Win2K3 server to a Nessus server that is installed on a Fedora Core 3 server; I have no firewall between the two or an IDS agent or IPChains on the Fedora server. When I try to connect I have a user created and can connect using that user on the Ferdora server, where Nessus is installed so I know it works and the user and pass are correct. When trying to connect from the client, having the correct port and IP added, I get a "could not establish a connection with server", I can ping from one server to the other so it can see the other server.
So I ran Ethereal on the Fedora box, I saw the connection attempt was listed but all that was listed was a few TCP Syn packets and ICMP stating "Destination unreachable (Host administratively prohibited)" The user I set up was not limited to any IP ranges either.

Remotely scanning ANOTHER internal network w/o the nessusd server on it... Possible
Does anyone know if its possible to scan a remote internal network with nessus 192.168.1.x/24 or another internal range at another location. I was thinking of having the nessus server running at one place, and then installing a client on ANOTHER internal network behind a firewall. Then loading up a windows client of it to scan the internal network (not the same network that the server is on.) The client would authenticate over the internet to the nessus server, and then scan. My question is this, would the internal scan be on the internal network that nessus server is running on or on the internal network the client is running on... and if it is the internal network that the server is running on, is there any way to have it scan the internal network the client is on without having to install the server on the same network... Sorry for the long, confusing, post. Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks, - Josh Gilmour Network Administrator www.Conqwest.com

I got the trace of the evil behavior.
A few notes on my previous posts..
1. In the problem state, the client stack is in FIN_WAIT_2
2. Server is in CLOSE_WAIT
4. Its the client *stack* which is broken, not the web client.
5. Our products are commonly run on this stack, on PCs.
6. When I say aborted connection I mean at the HTTP level.
The client hits 'stop' or equivalent.
If we handle this with a client FIN, we may allow this problem.(in the client) If we do it with a RST, we have a better chance of avoiding it. (yes, the RST can be lost, but chances are itll make it

Setting Up a Mail Server
Last updated: March 9, 2001
Development stage: Beta

A mail server is a server that is running one or more of the following: an IMAP server, a POP3 server, a POP2 server, and an SMTP server. For now, I'm only going to cover installing IMAP4, POP3, and POP2, which all come in a single package. A few examples of SMTP servers are Sendmail (widely used) and QMail (more secure and configurable). Sendmail is installed on many Linux distributions by default so it might not be necessary at all to install it. You may already have this installed on your system. As root, type which ipop3d and if it shows up, you don't need to read on unless you want to reinstall or perhaps to upgrade. Download a file at ftp.cac.washington.edu called imap-4.1.BETA.tar.Z . It's about 1.3 megabytes in size, so if you want to back it up on a floppy disk later on, go ahead. Remember also, the version might change, so just look for a file in imap*.Z format. Also remember to set the transfer mode in FTP to binary so that you don't download the entire file as plain text. Do that by typing type binary or type image when you're logged into the FTP server. Also, downloading the file from your web browser will probably automatically transfer it in binary format.

Summary:
  • Set DISPLAY variable ( set DISPLAY="some.host:0" Allow hosts to connect to your X server ( xhost +other.host.com Start up a font server on the server side by typing If you need to, set the address of the font server on the client side.
  • This page is going to help you run X programs on another computer, but display it on your X session. This is especially helpful if you have a slow machine on your LAN or want to display X applications on a Windows machine. I've been bugged and bugged and bugged by people who cry out about the security problems with this, from problems with xhost to lack of encryptionbut note that this is intended for a home network. I will try to point out what you should do if you are very concerned about security even in a home environment.
Client Side (X Server Side) Configuration
On your client side (the computer you want to display and use the program) you need something that allows the display of X programs. On a Linux/Unix machine you'll probably just need to have something like XFree86 or MetroX; any standard X server will do, as long as it displays and starts up fine on your computer. If it's a Windows machine, you need to download an X server. Two that I know of are and MI/X . You can look for more at Tucows , under server daemons, I think.

We currently have SLOX 4 running on a server that is little more than a glorified desktop computer. We have built a new server and want to put 4.1 on it once the update is released. Once we have 4.1 up and running and thoroughly tested, we plan to migrate the data from the 4 server to the new 4.1 server.
We do not have any add-ons installed, just the basic SLOX with Webmail and Groupware.
What data do I need to migrate to make sure all my users and the associated e-mail and groupware data get migrated to the new server?

Do you have to go exact version to exact version? We don't want to upgrade our current server to 4.1 because it is our live server. We want to make sure 4.1 is thoroughly tested on the new server before going live with it.
We could install 4 on the new server, migrate the data, make sure it's accurate, then upgrade the new server to 4.1 and test. The entire time keeping the version 4 server live. However, this way, changes made on the old server between the time we copy the data to the new server and the time we cut over to the new server will not be on the new server.
