Cool RV travelling across America...
Microsoft has a loaded RV that they are taking to Grand Rapids on August 2nd from 8:30 to 5:00. There's a free lunch. It's a free event, but you should RSVP. When it came to Ann Arbor, it was mostly stuff like Exchange, Mappoint, Licensing, Small Business Server and so on. However, it was really good information and it was worth the trip to see the RV. It's got highspeed everywhere because of the really solid satelite system. It's loaded with computers, networks and everything else I'd love to have in a completely mobile office...

1 Introduction
RADIUS is a widely used protocol in network environments. It is commonly used for embedded network devices such as routers, modem servers, switches, etc. It is used for several reasons:
  • The embedded systems generally cannot deal with a large number of users with distinct authentication information. This requires more storage than many embedded systems possess.
  • RADIUS facilitates centralized user administration, which is important for several of these applications. Many ISPs have tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, or even millions of users. Users are added and deleted continuously throughout the day, and user authentication information changes constantly. Centralized administration of users in this setting is an operational requirement.
  • RADIUS consistently provides some level of protection against a sniffing, active attacker. Other remote authentication protocols provide either intermittent protection, inadequate protection or non-existent protection. RADIUS's primary competition for remote authentication is TACACS+ and LDAP. LDAP natively provides no protection against sniffing or active attackers. TACACS+ is subtly flawed, as discussed by Solar Designer in his advisory.

In an earlier action at BYU, six rabbits and seven birds were liberated from the farm. Note: Josh's co-defendant, Harrison Burrows , snitched on Josh for a lighter sentence. But in typical fashion, the government sold him out as well, giving him the same sentence as Josh. Goes to show that snitching will get you nowhere, except in jail without outside support. Client/Server
The client/server project was part of a Data Communications and Networking 1 project. The assigment was to make a secure instant messaging framework. The part of the project I coded was the communications layer and the security code. The other group members handled the chatting logic. The first problem was the chat should function seamlessly over both TCP and UDP protocols. Through polymorphism I was able to get the communications layer to transport objects over either protocol without having to know the underlying details. This architecture in turn helped us deal with the second problem, which was to add security to the program. The security for this program came in the form of "locked objects". These objects were encrypted using a DES key which was shipped over the wire via a public/private key handshake at the beginning. In order to speed things up a bit, only the messages were encrypted. The chatting logic command objects were sent in the clear.

It was a Nickelodeon night to remember! Just ask Larisa Oleynik of The Secret World Of Alex Mack and Josh Server of All That. Two of the network's top teens joined forces when Josh guest starred on Alex Mack on Decemeber 3rd in a episode called " Spivey" Needless to say, the laugh-a-minute guy kept Larisa in constant state of giggles. When TEEN BEAT finally cornered the two for a one-on-two interview, well, let's just say the laugh-a-thon was infectious!] TEEN BEAT: You two have worked together before, right? JOSH SERVER: Yes, she was on All That once. We did a spoof of her show and she came and helped us out. It was lots of fun. We had a good week. LARISA: Yes! It was funny. Non-stop-comedy! TEEN BEAT: Okay. Let's get into the dish. What's the first thing that catches you eye about a potential date-mate. LARISA: I don't know! Just someone sweet. It I saw someone taking his little sister out... I think that's just adorable. JOSH: Hmmm, just about anything! My eye wanders a little bit too much! Actually, a girl with a sense of humor, of course me being the funny cat I am. I like someone who can laugh with me. Or at me ! Either way. Pretty eyes is my main thing. I like the little things- the characteristics that most people don't notice. TEEN BEAT: And how would he or she keep you interested?

54. Josh's Linux Guide - Setting Up E-mail

Setting Up E-mail
Last updated: December 15, 2000
Development stage: Beta
E-mail is probably one of the most important parts of using the Internet, so it only makes sense that Linux lets you use your precious e-mail. Your ISP probably uses a POP3 server for your e-mail. The program pine is an e-mail client that enables you to read, send, reply, sort, delete, forward, and do a lot more to your e-mail. That's what I use, although you might want to try other mail programs such as mutt or elm Then again, you may also have IMAP available. IMAP keeps the mailbox on the ISP so you don't really have to download it to your box, but read it and allow yourself to make changes that are saved onto the server later on. To my knowledge, not a lot of ISPs do this, but your company might use it. In a lot of ways, it's a lot more convenient.
Downloading Your E-mail
To download whatever e-mail you have onto your system, you should use a program called fetchmail . It handles POP3 (probably what you use), IMAP, and a bunch of other protocols for e-mail transfer. For IMAP you probably want to use pine

Ellison: J2EE is high-octane Java

Larry Ellison, CEO, Oracle SAN FRANCISCOOracle CEO Larry Ellison and BEA Systems Chief Executive Bill Coleman traded friendly jabs Thursday, but agreed competition among Java software makers is better than the Microsoft alternative. Coleman and Ellison spoke back-to-back at Sun Microsystems' JavaOne trade show here. They took turns trumpeting their Java products, needled each other, and together put down rival IBM's efforts in the lucrative market for e-business software. After Coleman's speech, Ellison took the stage and came out swinging, arguing that Oracle's Java application server runs faster and costs less than BEA's and IBM's products. BEA and IBM rank first and second, respectively, in the $1.6 billion market for application servers, software that handles e-commerce and other Web site transactions.

Thu Feb 4 11:56:26 EST 1999 I hope that Linux list starts up soon. I am looking at Cybrarian, WinU etc. In an attempt to do away with sign-in sheets and to automatically time user sessions. I have some PCs running Windows95 that are intended to be used exclusively for web browsing. I am using ipfwadm with ip masquerading on a private subnet and a squid proxy server to provide access to the internet. Part of my purpose was to keep these public machines away from our NT Server and internal computing. All of the standard Windows95 software that supports logging and timing out seems to expect either a Windows or NT machine. (I could be wrong) Other than configuring every machine as a stand alone are there ways to limit, login and timeout patrons through a Linux server. Are there some simple ways to login and time out users on a windows 95 machine, that is connected to a Linux server. Josh Kuperman Saratoga Springs Public Library sar_kuper at sals.edu

Ok, then this isn't really a question about XSL, thus making this the wrong forum. If you are accessing the image from the browser then the usual (at least for me) way to do this would be to have a servlet, or CGI program that generates the image, and then in your html you have an image element that points to the url for that servlet/CGI program. <img src=" http://myunixbox/mycontext/myservlet?attr1=value1&attr2=value2"/ it find this: http://today.java.net/pub/a/today/2004/04/22/images.html Current Thread
