Sir George Gilbert Scott PRIBA (1811-1878)
A leading architect of the Gothic revival, and certainly the most prolific. He was born in Buckinghamshire, and showing an early proclivity for drawing details of Gothic churches, was sent to train as an architect. He worked for the architect Henry Roberts and the builders Peto and Grissell before setting up his own practice. His output was astonishing - nearly 1000 buildings were designed by him and his firm. He was responsible for the Albert Memorial St Pancras Station and Hotel (1865) - one of the largest of all high Victorian Gothic buildings, the Foreign and Colonial Office (1858 onwards, originally planned as Gothic by Scott, but then changed to Italian Renaissance style after a change of Government) on Whitehall . In Oxford, he designed the Martyrs' Memorial (1841), St John's College Chapel and Exeter College Chapel. He designed the General Infirmary in Leeds (noted on the page on Woodhouse Moor there). In Scotland he was the architect of the Episcopal Cathedral, Edinburgh, and Glasgow University (1865). He also worked on the restoration of various cathedrals, including Ely, Gloucester, Chester, St Davids, Salisbury, Lichfield, Worcester, and Rochester . And he produced a variety of smaller ecclesiastical monuments, for example the screen at

I live in the southern California community of Lakewood with my wife, Namika, and my daughter, Leila. By day, I teach cultural anthropology at California State University, Long Beach, and by night (and day) I write mystery, suspense, and supernatural fiction. My first job pays the bills; the second one feeds my soul. I hope one day the second job will do both. And now that I've sold several short stories, this dream is on its way toward reality. I am also putting the finishing touches on my first novel, and I continue to write short fiction. I'm a member of the Los Angeles Chapter of Sisters-in-Crime ( http://www.sistersincrimela.com/ ) and the SoCal Chapter of Mystery Writers of America ( http://www.socalmwa.com/

A Christmas Carol (1984)
Starring: George C. Scott David Warner Roger Rees
Review Summary The classic story of rich miser, Ebenezer Scrooge, who is shown the light with the help of 3 spirits. Although the Alastair Sim version (1951) is still considered the best version by critics, there are those of us out there that know this, the George C. Scott version is truly the best and most faithful retelling of the Charles Dicken's classic, with standout performances by Scott, Warner, Rees, Edward Woodward and Susannah York. Top that off with authentic scenery (not shot on a sound stage) and a powerful score, this version has it all! Merry Christmas.

http://www.cinefile.biz/stranam.htm
Matteo Monari, 2 Febbraio 2005: Lucido
