Although he had already appeared in several films and in guest spots in other television programs, Ritter's portrayal of the lone bachelor in an apartment with two female roommates, made him a star, and won him both an Emmy award and a Golden Globe award. Born on September 17, 1948, in Burbank, CA, Ritter was the son of famed singer/actor Tex Ritter and Dorothy Fay Ritter. He became interested in acting when he was convinced to join a college drama class. He appeared on stage in England, Scotland, and elsewhere in Europe in the late 1960's, and made his first movie, The Barefoot Executive, in 1971. After guest appearances in numerous shows including The Waltons Mash Barnaby Jones The Mary Tyler Moore Show , and Starsky and Hutch , Ritter won the Three's Company part, and became a household name.

    He made more then 25 movies! Did more then 70 TV guest characters. Numerous appearances on game shows. Hosted endless events. Was always there to lend a hand for charities and benefits. Performed on Broadway, as well as several smaller theaters doing plays.

    John Ritter John Ritter in the opening credits of Three's Company John Ritter September 17 September 11 ) was an American actor Born Jonathan Southworth Ritter in Burbank California , he was the son of country singer /actor Tex Ritter and former actress Dorothy Fay Ritter attended Hollywood High School , where he was Student Body President. He went on to the University of Southern California , where he was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI) fraternity, majored in psychology and minored in architecture After two years in college, he was persuaded to join a drama class given by leading drama coach and actress, Nina Foch . Ritter soon changed his major to Theater Arts, graduating in with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in drama.
