Alberto Cassani, 4 Ottobre 2003: Godibile Quella sporca ultima meta di Robert Aldrich Un ex giocatore professionista di football americano finisce in galera e si trova a dover mettere insieme una squadra di carcerati per giocare una partita contro la squadra composta dalle guardie. Ma i "Mean Machine" finiscono per essere più forti del previsto, e questo al direttore della prigione non va proprio giù... A metà strada tra la commedia e il dramma sportivo, questa pellicola di Robert Aldrich si lascia guardare come poche altre nonostante il tempo che è passato e lo sport che nel nostro paese è ignoto a molti. Non ha (per fortuna) la brutalità di " Ogni maledetta domenica " di Oliver Stone ma neanche la verosimiglianza de "I mastini del Dallas" di Ted Kotcheff. L'impianto comico architettato dalla sceneggiatrice Tracy Keenan Wynn stempera infatti la forte tensione che si viene a creare ogni qual volta l'eroe si confronta con il suo opposto. Il risultato è che la storia dell'eroe redento assume ancor più peso nella composizione finale e che le sequenze rappresentanti vendette private ed incidenti di gioco non fanno impressione neanche agli animi più sensibili. E se la confezione dimostra in pieno l'origine di metà anni '70, il montaggio (nominato agli Oscar) rende le sequenze d'azione adrenaliniche anche per lo smaliziato pubblico del XXI° secolo.

Alberto Cassani, 15 Luglio 2005: Riuscito 20th Century Fox, 29 Luglio 2005 L'altra sporca ultima meta di Peter Segal Non è la prima volta che ritroviamo al cinema la storia di " Quella sporca ultima meta ". Se pochi anni fa l'ex mastino del Wimbledon Vinnie Jones ne aveva interpretato il remake calcistico intitolato "Mean Machine", non si può non notare le somiglianze tra il film di Aldrich e la vicenda di "Fuga per la vittoria" (che d'altra parte si rifà a"Due tempi all'inferno", diretto nel 1961 dall'ungherese Zoltán Fábri). Oggi Adam Sandler ce ne propone una versione aggiornata e corretta al tipo di cinema cui ci ha abituati negli ultimi anni, meno machista Sceneggiato dall'esordiente Sheldon Turner e diretto dal fido Peter Segal (" Terapia d'urto ", "50 volte il primo bacio"), "L'altra sporca ultima meta" evita attentamente di diventare un one-man-show il film del '74 rapper Nelly, il bibliotecario-running back dei detenuti. Dal canto suo Sandler è credibile nel ruolo, come lo era già stato nel folle "Waterboy", e Chris Rock appare per una volta sotto controllo. L'unica nota fuori posto sembra essere proprio il liftatissimo Burt Reynolds, soprattutto quando indossa i paracolpi ed entra in campo. Ma alla fine dei conti, questa è una pellicola godibile e in un paio di momenti pure elettrizzante. Forse la sorpresa della stagione.
