22. The Bill Nye The Science Guy Drinking Game
Game involving frequent elements on the show.
http://www.ringthis.com/tv_drinking_games/billnye.php
The Bill Nye the Science Guy Drinking Game Developed by Scooter and Lise of the Weasel Patrol Here's a nifty experiment you can try at home! First, get a large quantity of your favorite potable...maybe a few liters. ('Kay...) Pop the top on the first one you may want to get a grown-up to help you with this part (Right, Bill...) and flip to your local PBS station for the latest episode of Bill Nye, the Science Guy . Then follow the rules below. You may notice that the farther along the show gets, the more smashed you get. (Uh-huh...) Why is that? (I dunno...) Well, the ethyl alcohol in the potable gets absorbed into your blood stream, and the alcohol molecules get mixed around! [insert sloshing sound effect as Bill waves his hands] And those molecules starting killing off brain cells... [insert "ping! ping!" sound effect] Instructions : What constitutes a "drink" is up to you. We'd recommend sipping the show moves fast and the small sips you take will likely get you quite smashed, considering that they're coming a few seconds apart each time. A good healthy porn-star-style swallow constitutes a "chug" for us, but again, depending on how insane you are, you may wish to polish off the glass or container. If you're a former frat-boy, and want to relive those old glory days of repeated vomiting and such, you may skip down to the optional rule at the bottom. Start immediately after the National Science Foundation funding blurb (though a celebratory toast for auld lang syne to the good ol' dear departed NSFNet, taken *during* the funding blurb, is perfectly acceptable). Then commence consuming under the following conditions:

The Official Home Page Of Bill Nye The Science Guy The real Bill Nye (by the way, that is his real name) site is here . So go there for real information. To see some REALLY cool 3D Molecules (all of which can be rotated around on the page by dragging them in various directions), click here Bill Nye Information:
  • Every tool he uses MUST end with "of science!" and if it doesn't, the tool isn't important.
  • If you see him holding something that looks explosive, it usually is.
  • If you see him holding something that is expensive, it will soon break.
  • As a kid, he was teased a lot for wearing a funky bow-tie; and he wasn't born with a "silver spoon", he was born with a "bow-tie."
  • If you ever hear someone saying that they are going to watch a "William," that means they will be watching Bill Nye.
  • Bill Nye's jokes are so stupid, they are funny.

    The Setting
Somewhere in the Southwest A black helicopter buzzes overhead, briefly casting the gatehouse in shadow. The sergeant and private on duty are arguing with a man and his camera crew. "For the last time, Mister Wallace, this is the La Generica Army Research Facility, not your Area 51, whatever that is. That meteor shower last night came from an old Soviet satellite burning up. And I promise, cross my heart, hope to die, swear on a stack of Bibles, Korans, Bhagavad-Gitas, or whatever's politically correct these days, there isn't a single flying saucer on this base." "That's right," the private adds. "This here's the dullest duty in the Army, and that's a fact. Shrugging, the investigative journalist turns his car around and leaves. The guards watch, glance around, then quickly strip off their uniforms to reveal new ones beneath, with two stars glinting on each shoulder. "Fell for it again," the 'private' says. "Fell for what?" the un-sergeant asks. "We told the truth. There isn't a single flying saucer here. It's his fault he didn't ask whether there were two." He doffs his cap. "Now, if only we could figure out how to get them flying ourselves. Or get them open. Or read that weird writing on the hulls."

    38. Mission To Mars
See why Mars is so fascinating to many astronomical scientists. Includes photos of the rover and the planet, as well as a glossary of terms and timeline.
    http://athena.cornell.edu/kids/
When you dream about going places, where does your mind take you? The Grand Canyon, Africa, or New York? If you spend time looking at the stars, you'll notice a bright one that's a bit red. It's actually Mars, the fourth planet from the Sun. But mainly, it's the next place humans are going to explore. Mars is where we're all going on this site. Mars is so much like the Earth that we have to go there and see what happened. Where did the water go? When we look at close-up pictures of Mars, we see stream beds where water used to flow. We see big canyons and ice caps at the North and South Poles of Mars. Our planets are a lot alike. But something happened on Mars to make the water disappear and make it a cold place with a very thin atmosphere. So, we're sending robot instruments and rovers to Mars to study the environment and look for signs of life. There's a lot to do. Come on!
The Spirit rover has traveled five times farther than expected? When Spirit and Opportunity landed on Mars in January 2004, mission planners expected them to last about three months and travel approximately eight times the length of a football field (730 meters, or 2,400 feet). But both rovers are still exploring the surface of Mars one year later and have traveled much farther than anticipated. By the end of 2004, Opportunity has traveled 1,997.8 meters (1.24 miles) and Spirit has traveled 3,944 meters (2.45 miles). This means that the Opportunity rover has traveled almost three times the distance it was expected to cover and the Spirit rover has traveled more than five times farther than planned. Most of the mileage on Spirit's odometer came from the long traverse from its landing site at Columbia Memorial Station in Gusev Crater to the "West Spur" at the "Columbia Hills" (3.5 kilometers, or 2.2 miles). To see images of Spirit's trek from orbit, go to the
