Mumtaz the second If it is a two-heroine subject, takes Mumtaz, and seems to be the policy of the filmmakers. But Mumtaz doesn't seem to be much bothered. When any scribes question her on why she was accepting second leads, the actress frankly admits that she has no choice. "All the offers that come to be are of such types. What can I do? I am also not in a position to insist on, or demand solo heroine films. Further what's the harm? Nowadays the trend seems to be two-heroes or two-heroine subjects, isn't it?" counters she. He was a puzzle to the best of batsmen with his amazing bag of tricks. Though in his Ranji Trophy career that followed, he stuck largely to left arm orthodox spin, he unleashed a seemingly infinite variety of deliveries on unsuspecting batsmen in the Rohinton Baria tournament. His arsenal included the left arm spinner’s stock delivery which left the right hand batsman, a chinaman which he bowled using his wrist, a googly from the back of the hand, and both these deliveries with a finger spin action. He fooled batsmen with his changes of grip and action, as they misread ball after ball, until they were bowled, caught, lbw or stumped, looking rather foolish in the process. One famous victim was Sunil Gavaskar playing for Bombay University in 1970. The little master in the making once shouted to his partner Ramesh Nagdev at the bowler’s end that he could read Mumtaz’s wrong ‘un, only to be bowled neck and crop the very next ball, shouldering arms to one that came in sharply. To add insult to injury, the bowler stood there grinning wickedly at him.

    Mumtaz Begum
    Mumtaz's Biography
Hers is not the typical Bangali woman's soft, mellow voice, it's rather slightly on the rough, husky side. The lyrics of her songs are not exactly refined, but often colloquial, sometimes even rustic. But it is with that unconventional combination that she achieves a distinct quality that the audience finds irresistible. Her strength doesn't lie in the soothing effect on the ear, rather she kind of stirs up the audience's heart and demands their response. Thus when she comes on stage the audience goes into a frenzy and when she sings out the audience invariably joins in chorus. Her infectious charm and undeniable talent has made her one of the most popular entertainers of the country.
With an unbelievable 600 audio albums to her credit she is unarguably the most adored singer of the country. At a time when band musicians are the craze in live concert shows she is indeed the biggest crowd puller.
Mumtaz Begum's initiation into music occurred early. She was a mere child when she accompanied her singer father Modhu Boyati at first as an audience but very soon as a co-performer. Her father aside Matal Razzaque Dewan was another of her guru who she considers her mentor. She took to music almost unknowingly, but then she must have dipped deep into the sea of music and come out intoxicated, for ever. She never looked back again and never even distantly thought of doing something different.

The 15th century fort is leased out to filmmaker Akbar Khan for his Taj Mahal An Eternal Love Story , an opulent take on Emp eror Shah Jahan's love for his wife Mumtaz Mahal. The interiors of the real Taj Mahal with emerald and sapphire encrusted walls and gold and silver doors, apart from the interiors of the Diwan-e-Khaas and Agra Fort have been recreated at Mehrangarh. Taj Mahal is designed for the Indian and international markets," says Akbar Khan, younger brother of actor-director brothers Feroz and Sanjay Khan. The film starts with an ageing Shah Jahan reminiscing about his first meeting with Anjuman Bano, later Mumtaz Mahal. Excerpts from an interview with Vickey Lalwani Your last film was Haadsa in 1983. What made you return to filmmaking after two decades? I acted in films like Aakarshan and Swati as leading man. Then I started making a feature film. Taj Mahal is regarded as one of the eight wonders of the world, and some Western historians have noted that its architectural beauty has never been surpassed . The Taj is the most beautiful monument built by the Mughals, the Muslim rulers of India. Taj Mahal is built entirely of white marble. Its stunning architectural beauty is beyond adequate description, particularly at dawn and sunset. The Taj seems to glow in the light of the full moon. On a foggy morning, the visitors experience the Taj as if suspended when viewed from across the Jamuna river.

    On Muslim History and Civilization
Taj Mahal was built by a Muslim, Emperor Shah Jahan (died 1666 C.E.) in the memory of his dear wife and queen Mumtaz Mahal at Agra, India. It is an " elegy in marble " or some say an expression of a "dream." Taj Mahal (meaning Crown Palace) is a Mausoleum that houses the grave of queen Mumtaz Mahal at the lower chamber. The grave of Shah Jahan was added to it later. The queen’s real name was Arjumand Banu . In the tradition of the Mughals, important ladies of the royal family were given another name at their marriage or at some other significant event in their lives, and that new name was commonly used by the public. Shah Jahan's real name was Shahab-ud-din, and he was known as Prince Khurram before ascending to the throne in 1628.

Mumtaz and Jahan The love affair that created the Taj Mahal
By Pip Wilson June 7 Sources differ as to date .] While on a campaign with her husband ( Shah Jahan Mughal Emperor of India), Mumtaz Mahal (born Arjumand Banu Begam) , died. The Taj Mahal, described by Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore as “a tear on the face of eternity”, is often said to be one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World , and is her tomb. The grand Taj Mahal stands as a monument to the love of a man for a woman. As she lay on her deathbed, it is said that Mumtaz whispered to Jahan a dying wish for him to build a monument that would express the beauty of their love for each other. Stricken with grief, Shah Jahan remained indoors for a week; when he emerged his hair had turned white, his back was now bent, and his face lined with despair. He ordered his entire kingdom into mourning for the next two years, and it is said he was inconsolable to the point of contemplating abdication in favour of his sons.

h o m e r e v i e w s r e s t a u r a n t s t a k e a w a y s ... l i n k s Mumtaz, Northampton Tuesday, 28 May 2002 restaurant factfile For starters - we may be getting a little predictable but what the hell? For the first time in ages, the sheek kebabs arrived on a sizzler and they were huge, nay, massive and were expertly spiced giving a delicate flavour. The onion bhajis were two large flat disks with an OK texture but a bland taste. Fortunately, the bright orange splatter (this seems to be becoming the most popular colour) lifted their flavour up a couple of levels. For the third curry in a row, we were asked if we wanted to wait a while for our main dishes (we reckon someone somewhere has been offering cheap customer care courses!). Despite the size of the starters, we opted to press on. The Chicken Pathia was one of the best yet - a rich, thick sauce crammed full of fruit and veg and chicken. With the Chicken Bhuna, the chicken pieces were generally too large and flavourless but the tasty sauce want a long way to compensate. Asbestos mouthed PhilS chose the Chicken Chilli Massalla. Again the chunks of meat were a bit cumbersome. Through the flames emanating from his mouth, he described it as "Fairly hot, but not too hot to ruin the flavour. Quite a few whole chillies, but luckily they weren't too hot". The nans were exceptionally good. Both of the cheese variety were, unusually, discernibly cheesy and, as well as the plain nan, had a good fluffy texture. Despite its downmarket location (how else would you describe an area around the corner from where both SteveB and IanD have once lived!), the Mumtaz was quite luxurious. Once again, the waiters were very friendly (been on that course) - every one of them made a point of asking if we required popadoms and popped up at least once during the meal to enquire if we were enjoying it. Everything was huge - starters, main dishes and nans. The draught beer was cheap so the final bill including the tip was very reasonable. It may look like one of them trendy places but The Mumtaz proves that you can have all that and still provide good food at reasonable prices.
