The Opening
Joe Friday: "This is the city. Los Angeles, California. I work here... I'm a cop." (This was later changed to "I carry a badge" following complaints from police officers.) Following this opening, Joe would start giving details of the episode. ("It was Tuesday, February 9. It was raining in Los Angeles. We were working bunko... (etc.)"
Before the actual start of the show, Hal Gibney (or, in earlier episodes, George Fenneman of "You Bet Your Life" fame) would intone: "The story you are about to see is true. Only the names have been changed to protect the innocent." (In earlier episodes, it would begin: "Ladies and Gentlemen...")
"What Is a Cop?"
(From "The Interrogation")
Written by: Preston Wood
Jack delivers the following speech about the trials and tribulations of being a police officer to a rookie undercover officer suspected of robbing a liquor store. It's our most-requested speech, and many people frame the words. (Please note that this transcript was taken from the slightly edited Nick at Nite version of this episode. We plan to add a few missing lines soon.)

Cast:
Michael Burns as Benjie "Blue Boy" Carver
Art Balinger as Capt. Lou Richey
Olan Soule as Ray Murray
Robert Knapp as Mr. Eugene Carver
Eve Brent as Mrs. Carver
Jerry Douglas as Sgt. Eugene Zappey Alfred Shelly as Sgt. Dominic Carr Johnny Aladdin as The Painter Shari Lee Bernath as Sandra Quillan Heather Menzies as Edna Mae Dixon Plot: This is the famous "Blue Boy" episode. Jack Webb wrote the script for this story (under a pseudonym), which covers the problem of LSD in the hands of teenagers. The drug had only been made illegal one year prior to the episode's original air date. It features a fascinating Hollywood rendition of a flower child strung out on acid at the beginning of the episode, Blue Boy has his head in a hole in the ground, after earlier trying to eat the bark off a tree. He is held for public intoxication, although since LSD was not illegal he could not be held for possession. As soon as it is made illegal, some months later, Joe and Bill go out to make some arrests, crashing a psychedelic drug party. By the time they track Benjie down, however, he has OD'd on a combination of LSD and other drugs.

of
McKay Aussies Roger was a friend for a very long time. We are caught on film by Heidi Mobley during the 2004 Nationals. Roger was cutting my hair while we were watching the show. The wind was blowing and everyone wondered just how good he was. Well when it was done, they realized just how good Roger was at doing hair. He even cut Pam Levin's in one of the following days. This is the 2 things in all life that he enjoyed besides his family. Jo Kell is sitting next to Roger in this pictures. All of us have been friends to long to think about. It is with a heavy heart that I say Good Bye to a life long friend. Jo, I and Roger had many many conversations not only on the dogs but our lives in general. Both Jo and I will miss Roger in our lives for many years to come. GOOD BYE DEAR FRIEND YOU ARE IN A BETTER PLACE.
I know that you are somewhere that you are organizing all the things for the dog show and watching Bobby in the ring. I'm sure he is there with you plus being surrounded by your family that has gone before you.

Link to the 2002 Twilight Zone Convention Log
The 2nd semiannual Twilight Zone convention was held at the Beverly Garland Holiday Inn in Hollywood on August 21-22, 2004. Once again, we planned our vacation around this event, since there were many stars there that we wanted to meet and talk with. We had to call Frank to tell him we were stuck at the rental office, and he jumped in the car to come and get us; we'd worry about the rental car later. By the time he got close to the office, however, we had the car, a Chrysler 300, so we met him at a McDonalds off the La Tijuera exit, and followed him to the Wattles Mansion. We were about ten minutes late, which upset me but couldn't be helped.
Old postcard of the mansion from the 1910's
Gurdon Wattles, who was an Omaha businessman, had built a California summer home in 1907 in LA to escape the harsh Omaha winters. The house in LA is now recognized as the only extant intact mansion from before the advent of Hollywood. When Wattles died in 1932, his family lived in the house until it was sold to the city of LA in 1968; Wattles' widow continued to live in the mansion until 1972. It sat there for the next 10 years, neglected and plagued with drainage problems while the neighborhood deteriorated around it, until the Hollywood Heritage group acquired it about 20 years ago. They have spent those years trying to restore it to it's former self, and have done a remarkable job.

Specific topics within these broad subject areas are presented as either comprehensive literature reviews which provide an assessment of the overall findings, shorter and more practically oriented review articles which are adequately supported by literature citations, brief leading articles which address emerging areas in an overview fashion, or articles discussing current opinion on controversial topics. Original research articles are considered for publication. All manuscripts are subject to peer review by international experts. Letters to the Editor are welcomed and will be considered for publication.

TV Programs: Fury (United States, 1955-60)
Figure 1. "Fury" was a staple on Saturday morning kids television during the late 1950s. The main character was of course Fury, a horse. His owner Joey was played by Bobby Diamond. Roger Mobley played Homer "Packy" Lambert, Joey's young pal. Although born in Indiana, Roger grew up in west Texas and spoke with a drawl, unlike his fellow cast members. The director of "Fury" didn't want Roger for the part. He wanted Jay North, who went on to play, of course, Dennis the Menace. The producer of "Fury", a wonderful and kind man, Leon Fromkess, overrode his dirctor and hired Roger. Roger went on to play the lead in the Disney series Gallagher.
    TV-ology
"Fury" was a staple on Saturday morning NBC kids television during the late 1950s. It was a long-running NBC program. The outdoor scenes for "Fury" were filmed at two different ranches north of Hollywood, and the indoor shots were filmed at an old Hollywood TV lot. The TV show " Lassie ", starring Tommy Rettig, was also filmed at that studio.
    Chronology
NBC premiered "Fury" on October 15, 1955, and the final original episode was shown on March 19, 1960. This Saturday morning favorite, though, continued to run at its regular time slot until September 3, 1966, a full 6 years after production had ceased. One source claims that NBC considered scheduling "Fury" as a primetime show but chose Saturday morning instead.

Boys Costumes Depicted in Television Shows: Alphabetical "F" Listings
HBC will list TV series alphabetically here to make them easier to find. TV shows, except for American TV shows, are generally not well know in countries other than in the countries in which they were made. They are also much more current than movies. Almost all TV shows date from the 1950s at the earliest. Costume dramas have the same problems as in the movies, but a great deal of useful information is avialible from TV shows set in contemporary periods. As non-American TV shows are not as widely distributed as movies, often little information is available on these shows outside each country. Movies are often widely distributed in foreign countries. TV shows, with the exceptiion of American programs, are generally not. As an American, we have, for example, never seen German, French, and Italian TV shows. Thus the TV pages provide a much-needed source of information on foreign programing.
    F Troop - (US)
Story of an incompetent calvary troop with a boy and German shepard dog as a mascot. Rather inane humor. The boy wore a calvary uniform.
(The) Facts of Life - (US)
Set in a girl's boarding school and follows the girls after they graduate. The latter episodes included a teen-age boy (Mackenzie Astin). Like most U.S. shows he is a real wise guy.
