He played 'I', the comparative straight-man to Richard E. Grant 's insanely melodramatic Withnail. Despite this encouraging introduction to cinema, McGann has made only sporadic film appearances, starring in Ken Russell 's The Rainbow (1989), and little-seen features, Dealers (d. Colin Bucksey, 1989), Paper Mask (d. Christopher Morahan, 1990), and Downtime (UK/France, d. Bharat Nalluri, 1997). I was awestruck by the gentle allure and sensuous nature of this soft-spoken young man. To this day I can't point to one specific thing that makes it all "work" with him, but work it does. So what makes Paul "totally delish"? He was probably at his most gorgeous in 1995's The Hanging Gale , a mini-series that ran on European television, but has given amazing performances in The Biographer (as Andrew Morton), in the Hornblower series of television films, and as Peter Marwood in Withnail and I in 1987. He currently stars as Paul Jerricho in the UK series, Adventure Inc.
