Early Persuasion? Dizzy Gillespie met Charlie "Yardbird" Parker in his hometown of Kansas City while on tour with Cab Calloway. Though they practiced together and discussed music whenever Dizzy passed through Missouri, the pair did not perform together until they joined Earl Hines' band (which then included Billy Eckstine and Sarah Vaughan). After some reluctance, Gillespie finally agreed to join the band after learning from Hines and Eckstine that Parker was going to join. And Parker? He too was enticed into the band - when Hines and Eckstine told him that Dizzy was joining! [The ruse created one of the greatest collaborations in the musical history. Dizzy forever changed the way the trumpet is played, as Bird did the saxophone. Home il Meglio del web Un ciclone in casa Steve Martin e' un grande comico. Ha fatto uno stuolo di commedie per cui si potrebbe scrivere un saggio su quel suo particolarissimo modo di essere pungente e satirico con misurata intelligenza e con quel suo savoir-faire da "lord" senza andare troppo sul pesante. Ed e' quasi sempre andato a segno. Dopo un sacco di tempo torna sulla scena, memore della sua presenza come "anchor-man" alla recente nottata degli Oscar, gli americani sono corsi in massa a vedere questa sua ultima fatica, e chissa' se le loro speranze sono rimaste deluse o meno. Per quello che mi riguarda, posso dire che il film in questione e' la solita, banale commediola, con *qualche* trovatina comica e niente piu'. Ed e' triste perche' Steve Martin, anche se invecchiato, fisicamente tiene bene gli anni, e sullo schermo si muove come sempre molto a suo agio. Peccato che la sceneggiatura faccia di tutto per ridicolizzarlo in una parte dove scimmiotta se' stesso. Il meglio e' "quasi" tutto nei provini, il resto e' talmente blando che deprime. A dire il vero il film sembra quasi stato scritto maggiormente per Queen Latifah (si scrive cosi'?), la cui ingombrante presenza fisica e' decisamente ben messa in risalto utilizzandola per creare quasi tutte le situazioni comiche. Che dire? Se in sala c'e' gente, magari vi ritroverete a ridere con loro, se siete da soli, forse vi annoierete. Badate, c'e' di ben peggio in giro, ma il fatto di trovarsi di fronte all'ennesima commediola americana, con le solite implicazioni sentimentali sul finale, perdipiu' con un protagonista come Steve Martin, che fa il pagliaccio, sinceramente mi ha un po' deluso... Voto: 6 (politico) ... e poi perche' non ho voglia di essere cattivo...
