Lions Gate recently announced that it signed Hip-Hop star LL Cool J to a multiyear and multiproduction movie deal.
The deal also reportedly includes LL Cool J's manager Jason Barrett of Alchemy Entertainment and was announced by by Michael Paseornek, president of production at Lions Gate Films.
LL Cool J will now have more involvement in the films and the first movie to be produced will be a urban version of the hit movie "Fatal Attraction." LL Cool J will play the role of the man who has an affair gets into serious trouble with the woman he has an affair with.
It involves LL Cool J, aka James Todd Smith, taking on a much more involved role then he has with his other films. The multihypenate will produce each of the films with Barrett, and Paseornek and John Sacchi, senior vp production, will oversee on behalf of Lions Gate. The first project to be developed is an urban version of the '80s thriller "Fatal Attraction." LL Cool J will play an everyman who gets into serious trouble when he engages in an extramarital affair.

July 21, 2005 Yep, Ladies (still) Love Cool James. So it's no shocker that he'll soon star in a remake of a shocker. LL Cool J , the rapper-turned-actor, was signed by Lions Gate Films to a multi-picture deal that hopes to attract black female moviegoers to theaters. . The first movie will be an urban remake of 1987's "Fatal Attraction." LL who has starred in many films, including "Deliver Us from Eva" and "Deep Blue Sea" will take on Michael Douglas' role, portraying a guy who gets way more than he bargained for when he starts an extramarital affair. Lions Gate also will develop two more projects for LL, who will get a producer's credit on each movie. The film company plans to roll out two of its low-budget ($10 million) LL flicks a year.

LL Cool J landed in the national spotlight in 1985 at the age of 17 with the release of his debut album Radio . He was one of the increasingly crowded scene of Rap hopefuls. Few would have guessed it was the beginning of a 20+ year career as one of the top Hip-Hop performers in the world crossing musical boundaries into Pop and Dance music stardom. Hip-Hop careers have tended to be short-lived, but LL has combined obvious Rap skills with a promising acting career, good looks and an engaging public personality to remain in the spotlight for the long haul. Raised in New York City's borough of Queens, LL Cool J (his given name is James Todd Smith, the stage name stands for 'Ladies Love Cool James') began rapping at the tender age of 9. By the age of 13 his grandparents had given him a DJ system and he was making home recordings. LL drew the attention of fledgling Def Jam Records in 1984. He was hired by label co-owners Russell Simmons and Rick Rubin to record Def Jam's first single release. I Need a Beat , the resulting single, sold over 100,000 copies and LL Cool J returned to the studio to record a full-length album. The subsequent release, 1985's
