La marcha, que partió de El Paso (Texas, EEUU) y concluyó en la plaza Benito Juárez de la ciudad mexicana, reunió a diversas personalidades del arte y la cultura, quienes se unieron al reclamo de familiares de las víctimas y activistas para denunciar la impunidad y exigir investigaciones que finalmente den con los responsables de tantos crímenes. "Soy rica, soy famosa, soy blanca. Tengo una hija, tengo una nieta y sé que si una de ellas desapareciera, la policía haría todo lo posible por encontrarlas", dijo la actriz Jane Fonda en una conferencia de prensa, en Ciudad Juárez. La marcha es parte de un esfuerzo por aumentar la atención sobre la violencia contra las mujeres en el mundo, impulsada en gran medida por la escritora Ensler.
