The Shining - Stanley Kubrick - Stanley Kubrick : (1928Ü2000) Il compte parmi les meilleurs jeunes cinéastes américains de la génération 1955. Formé par le documentaire, il en a gardé le goût du détail exact. Âpre, hardi, souvent brutal, il affirma ces qualités dans The Killing (l'Ultime Razzia) (1956), puis donna sa meilleure œuvre avec Paths of Glory (Les Sentiers de la gloire) (1957), film sur les soldats français "fusillés par erreur" pendant la guerre de 1914. En 1968, il tourne 2001, l'Odyssée de l'espace. Réalisateur de A Clockwork Orange (Orange Mécanique) (1971), premier film dit de "violence gratuite", il se complaît dans le genre psychologique brutal avec Shining en 1959. Acteurs Jack Nicholson : Jack Tawrence Shelley Duvall : Shelley Tawrence Danny Lloyd : Danny Tawrence Scatman Crothers Barry Nelson Philip Stone Joe Turkel Anne Jackson Une page écran titre : "L'entrevue", entre Jack et le directeur de l'hôtel. Parallèlement, nous sommes introduits chez les Tawrence, où nous voyons Shelley et Danny. Danny a une particularité : il s'exprime parfois en faisant parler son doigt. Intriguant, mais pas assez encore. Nous revenons dans le bureau du directeur, qui explique à Jack le meurtre de l'hiver 70-71, celui-ci ne s'en inquiète pas. Deux éléments qui attirent déjà l'attention du spectateur. Cela constitue une première entrée dans la dramaturgie.

After his divorce, Stanley Kubrick marries in 1955 Ruth Sobotka, a glamourous dancer of the New York City Ballet. A few films and another divorce later, he marries the German painter and actress Christiane Harlan in 1958. He met her on the set of his antiwar drama Paths of Glory . This time, Stanley Kubrick finds the love of his live. That same year, Marlon Brando hires him as director for his Western War and Peace . But Kubrick leaves in dissent and an indemnity of $100,000. Brando was always intervening in his work. After Kubrick leaves, Brando himself takes over the directing. In 1959, Stanley becomes the director of Spartacus . Anthony Mann was fired after only eight days of shooting. Stanley Kubrick takes the job although he has no influence on screenplay, production and distribution.
