Despite Being Hounded By the Press, He Was Always a Dog Lover By Lori Golden Twelve years old is a very impressionable age for a youngster. Youre young enough to dream about what will be, yet old enough to savor images that will leave an indelible impression on your life. And so it was that I was 12 in 1963, when the world stood still with the incomprehensible news that President John F. Kennedy had been assassinated. As a true child of television, the images of that sad moment in our nations history have been etched upon my memory for all eternity. Evidently, I was not the only one. For when the news came that John F. Kennedy Jr. was lost at sea with his wife, Carolyn, and sister-in-law Lauren Bessette on July 17 th , those long ago images were played over and over on every television station reporting the events. | |
