Nevertheless, he has the dubious honor of being our favorite actor here at THAT GUY. Born in upstate New York, Philip Seymour Hoffman is a graduate of the Tisch School of Drama. After working extensively in high school and college theater, his first film role of note was Chris O'Donnell's sniveling roommate in Scent of a Woman (1992). Since then, he's turned in performances far more memorable and capable than anything Brad Pitt or Leonardo DiCaprio have ever done.
