By ALESSANDRA STANLEY Published: October 25, 2006 The plea is as disturbing — and arresting — as a hostage video from Iraq. In a navy blazer and preppy Oxford shirt, the actor Michael J. Fox calmly asks viewers to support stem cell research by voting for several Democratic candidates in Maryland, Missouri and Wisconsin, while his body sways back and forth uncontrollably like a sailor being tossed around in a full-force gale. NEW YORK - In a response to charges by conservative talk-show host Rush Limbaugh, Michael J. Fox defended his appearance in recent political campaign ads, saying he was neither acting nor off his medication for Parkinson’s disease. On the contrary, he had been overmedicated, the actor said during an interview aired on Thursday’s “CBS Evening News with Katie Couric.” “The irony of it is that I was too medicated,” Fox told Couric, adding that his jumpy condition as he spoke to her reflected “a dearth of medication — not by design. I just take it, and it kicks in when it kicks in.”

    Teen Wolf (1985)
    A
great fun flick with a great pop soundtrack. The talented MICHAEL J FOX stars as Scott Howard, the teenager who discovers that his family heritage amounts to more than most.
Dissatisfied with life and his losing streak playing basketball for Beacon Town's own 'Beavers', Scott soon finds that the 'changes' he is going though give him extraordinary powers both on the court - and off.
"I am sick of being so average" (Scott Howard)
Soon Scott changes for the first time. The legendary transformation scene is still very effective and never fails to amuse when they reveal that Scott's Father Harold Howard is also an aged werewolf!
Aided crudely by a fantastic JERRY LEVINE as his friend 'Stiles' - a schemer with a party attitude, Scott is persuaded to exploit the Wolf to gain popularity. He begins to use his Wolf-ability to perform for the downtrodden basketball team, neglecting his childhood sweetheart, Lisa 'Boof' Marconi, and winning the affection of the school babe Pamela Wells. Meanwhile, the Wolf keeps dunkin' baskets with animal aerobatics!
Coach Bobby Finstock is ecstatic in a hilarious performance from JAY TARSES who has more classic lines in this movie than anyone I can think of:
"...Never get less than 12 hours sleep. Never play cards with a guy with the same first name as a city and never go near a lady with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Everything else is cream cheese." (Bobby Finstock on the rules of life)

By The Washington Post : Appearing grimly unsteady from his long bout with Parkinson's disease, actor Michael J. Fox is inserting his halting voice into the campaign for the U.S. Senate in a new television commercial about the importance of stem cell research. The ad, endorsing Democrat Benjamin L. Cardin in his race against Republican Michael S. Steele, bears witness to the actor's unmistakable decline and harnesses that physical degeneration into a political message. More...

Michael J. Fox laments rechanneling of resources in stem-cell work
By Sandi Dolbee UNION-TRIBUNE STAFF WRITER 2:42 p.m. December 14, 2007 Fox, who received an award from the Jewish group for championing disease research, was given three standing ovations, and his comments were often punctuated with applause. Fox acknowledged that he's received much criticism from conservatives who oppose human embryonic stem cell research because the embryo is destroyed in the process. The Reform movement, the country's largest and most liberal of the three main branches of Judaism, supports embryonic stem cell research. Fox, who attends a Reform congregation in New York with his family, told Friday of helping his twin daughters with their Torah homework. The passage was about David, a boy who killed a giant named Goliath with a stone. People wanted to give him armor and a sword for the fight, but David refused. But truth, in the volatile debate over stem cells, depends upon who is asked.

Dr. Scherzer commented: "We are excited to collaborate with DiaGenic and MJFF to continue optimizing early detection of Parkinson's disease. We have recently published an extensive gene expression study on Parkinson's using blood as the clinical sample and are optimistic that the use of peripheral gene expression will prove valuable for the early detection of neurological disorders. DiaGenic CEO Erik Christiansen commented: "We are grateful for the funding from The Michael J. Fox Foundation and delighted to collaborate with Dr. Scherzer and his team. We regard this as a further international recognition of our concept for diagnosis of PD and neurodegenerative disorders. The study will be based on promising results from our pilot study on Parkinson's disease, presented at the IPA meeting in Portugal on May 5, 2006, and with leads identified by Dr. Scherzer's team."
